Comments about Fenix L0D LED Flashlight - '09 Closeout:
I've owned or still own all the typical keychain lights trying to find something that was bright enough to use effectively. I wanted something small enough for key chain, but would put out enough usuable light. I found this light a year ago and it simply one of the best purchases (paid [$] back then) I have ever made. It is only slightly larger than an AAA battery, which it uses as power. It has a hole for your keychain, which is where I carry mine. It is truly brighter than the old 2 D cell Mag Light. To turn on the Fenix, simply twist the barell (similar to the Mag Solitaire). On the first twist, the light comes on to medium brightness (25 lumens). Turn it off and on again within 1.5 seconds and it goes to low brightness (9 lumens). Off and on again takes it to full brightness at 75 lumens. Do again and it starts a rapid strobe. Again, starts an S.O.S. morse code signal repeating every 2-3 seconds. If you don't believe me check some of the reviews online, everyone seems to be as amazed and happy as I am.

This is the most incredible AAA lamp I have ever seen. Its brightness equals my other Luxeon LEDs, with 75 powerful lumens. It lasts as long as my Princeton Tec Eos head lamp on high ( one hour +), but uses only one AAA instead of three. It is as bright as my Coast AA, but is 'regulated' so the beam stays constant. Did I mention waterproof and bombproof in a key chain size package?
I bike tour in fall and winter when it gets dark before rush hour and have been upgrading my flashlights/headlamps since the LED revolution.
This may be the last flashlight I will ever buy, unless I lose it. I will immediately buy another.
It is a Luxeon not a CREE but still the best AAA I have ever used to light up the darkness. I attach it to my bike for night riding so I appreciate the 'flash' mode and usually the medium setting is bright enough to ride with. The beam pattern is fantastic. A solid spot in the center with a decent sweep.
Seriously, if I have any complaint it is that the low setting (a solid 7 to 8 hours) still puts out too much light for my tent.
Own this, you won't be sorry.

I really don't know what to say about this flashlight other than it really is the neatest, most innovative, compact flashlight I've ever used. I've had many many flashlights in all sorts of sizes over the year but this is one to keep. For the size and weight (and output of a single AAA) it is truly a winner in a category that has many different options for you to choose. The twist feature option is at a perfect light output ratio for me and it powers on at MED level then the 2nd twist is low, thus giving you some light to walk around and saves batt power. the 3d twist is HIGH and 75lumens is really quite powerful for a variety of tasks.
A best friend of mine new to outdoor adventure gear researched some UL lights and turned me on to this saying how neat-o of a compact system it really is-- oh how good his researching was as I bought 2 more and have it in my pocket everyday since. Just buy it- you wont regret.

In addition to the positive comments written by others, please note that the LOD also accepts AAA lithium primary cells, which will extend its run time well beyond alkaline or NiMH rechargeables, to about 2 hours of continuous use on full power, about 8 hours of continuous use on the medium setting, and about 15 hours on the low setting. (The light however is not recommended for use with 3.6 volt rechargeable lithium cells...those higher voltage cells will fry the emitter.) All things considered, this is the smallest, lightest, most ruggedly constructed pocket light available that also offers a strobe mode (for getting attention), and an SOS mode (if you find you really need help). As a safety and security measure, you would be negligent if you DON'T carry it.

As the title says, this should be in every pocket, purse or key ring. I have some black shrink tubing on mine to soften the bite.
For those who would attach it to their keys, it could use a better way to attach to a key chain or ring.
The only feature it seems to be missing is a low battery alert. I have a Pezl headlamp that has this feature, and it is very, very convenient, as a regulated LED gives little warning when the battery is weak. Without this feature, you could find yourself in the dark at an inconvenient time. Otherwise, I would give it five stars.
Or SIX!

Comments about Fenix L0D LED Flashlight - '09 Closeout:
A little pricey, but definitely worth it and like me you'll be glad you ponied up the extra for such a superior light. Truly tiny, drops into a shirt pocket without being noticed. Durable, I've dropped it onto concrete from waist height a number of times with no problems so far.3 main light settings, lowest setting rated for 8 hours continuous 'regulated' (IE, maintains steady light level and does not gradually dim as batteries drain)output. High setting is amazingly bright, will illuminate a large room intensely, ideal for exploring, navigating or travel. Good pocket clip and lanyard/keyring clip. Great for navigating dark trails, tunnels, inspecting foreclosed houses with electricity shut off, more than sufficient for nighttime auto emergencies, changing flat tires etc. Perfect for international travel. LED lights are evolving/improving exponentially, next year's models will all be brighter if not cheaper, but this is a great price now for a tiny light with high-lumen performance superior to most full-size handheld lights. You might also consider getting the identically sized but much cheaper, 10-lumen-only Fenix E1 on REI as an inexpensive yet totally adequate backup/buddy light. Fenix LOD is simply the best keyring/ultralight AAA that I've found. The final deal-closer is its near-zero size and lightness: you'll always have it on you wherever you go, and you'll be glad you do.

I LOVE this light. Very bright when you need it, dimmer (but still plenty of light) for battery saving, includes strobe and SOS (I hope I never actually need those but...) lightweight and small.
It lives in my pocket and I find myself reaching for it VERY often.
I could not be happier.

Either by error or good luck, my Fenix L0D came with the Cree XP-E R2 emitter with Orange Peel reflector, arrived in Eugene today. This extremely efficient emitter is typically found on the Fenix LD01's. This torch replaces my old E01 with it's purple tint. Bye Bye!
The low setting is lower than the E01, and the high is brighter than anything I have in the AAA battery size. I'm very impressed so far, and the only improvement Fenix could make is offer this torch in Olive color or anything other than black.
This light now gets my "Best Bang for the Buck" in the AAA battery category. Too bad it's not regulated to take the Li-Ion 10440 3.7 volt cells as that would be amazing. I hear folks do it, but it's not wise.
