Comments about Platypus Big Zip SL 1.8L Reservoir - 60 fl. oz.:
Totally satisfied with this system & have now tossed out my old Camelback & nalgene bottles. It is a little heavy for the ultralight crowd + a bit pricey, but I thought these minor concerns for the quality and utility offered.
Detachable hose is wonderful; can leave threaded through pack while removing/refilling bladder. Connection also allows me to pump directly into bladder (from Katadyn Hiker filter). Just spent three days on the Appalachian Trail and never opened the bladder zipper--very sanitary.
Moreover, the heavy-duty closure and handle makes refilling with my pump filter a one-person job--no longer have to lay bladder on the ground or juggle bottles.

Comments about Platypus Big Zip SL 1.8L Reservoir - 60 fl. oz.:
I picked up one of these from Scratch and Dent and took a chance on it.
WOW. I would have paid full price for the thing now.
I filled it up with water at home, sealed up the zipper, and dropped it on the floor. Hard. I then kicked it. Hard.
No leaks.
This bag has been on the trail a few times since then and I am thinking of adding another larger bag to my pack to give me greater capacity.

Comments about Platypus Big Zip SL 1.8L Reservoir - 60 fl. oz.:
I originally purchased the 2.0L model and LOVE it, my only complaint was that it was a little long/tall to fit in my osprey packs...Ather 70, Atmos 50, and Stratos 26. The 1.8L version is shorter and fits MUCH better. It's very easy to clean, the Zip Top hold securely and once it's cleaned a few time, there are no "plastic" tastes. I also really like how my Katadyn Hiker Pro connects right to it without having to pull it out of my pack. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone in the market for a hydration bladder...especially if you are using it with an Osprey pack.Another resource for owners...[@]Answers to any questions you might have and customer service is GREAT!I'd also recommend purchasing the bite valve cover. It works great for keeping it clean.

Comments about Platypus Big Zip SL 1.8L Reservoir - 60 fl. oz.:
I can't say that I'm a fan, the bite valve is not all that good and has no cover. The cover and insulation kit is $20, that's insane, that would bring the total up to $50 which is WAY out of line. I purchased a whole pack including the hydration bag, valve cover and insulation for $20 from a warehouse club and the quality was no different.

Comments about Platypus Big Zip SL 1.8L Reservoir - 60 fl. oz.:
Nice product. Very sturdy and reliable. Easy to use. The hose detaches easily and the zip feature makes it very easy to fill even in water fountains. Having a hydration pack makes the weight of the water distribute evenly in the pack. Keeps you well hydrated on long hikes. The bite valve is great too. I went with the 1.8 vs the 2L because in store the 2L bag was longer and narrower and I am using a small dayhiker bag so this was a better fit.
