These are my go to water bottles for everything. I took several with me on a month long road trip and never worried about tossing them in the back of the car near trekking poles and other items. They are very tough and it would take a very good hit or extremely sharp object to puncture these bottles.

I prefer to use the standard top because it is bombproof. My fiancé brought a couple of her other water bottles with her and ended up throwing them out before we got home because her platypus was the only one that didn't leak.

I always keep one with me when I go through airports or to sporting events so I can go through the gate and fill it up at a fountain, no need to pay for water bottles!

It's not a big bottle, but if you need more they make a 1L version.

I own 3 of the 17 oz. sizes and use each of them almost every day. They fit nicely into a mesh bottle area on my sporty purse, my laptop backpack and in my REI Personal Cooler. Colleagues tease me about them and tell me it looks like I'm drinking out of a shampoo bottle, yet always ask where they can get one. I've had them for at least 6 months and have yet to have a problem. I do not roll them up after using them, as I have read on other sites that doing so shortens the life of them. I know they won't last forever, but I think minimal rolling up and compacting will help extend the life span.

Since I refuse to pay for water when I go to sporting events these are great to take in to stadiums and fill up there and they take up virtually no space.

Another nice thing about them is that you can fill them up about 2/3 and freeze them - make sure to fold the excess portion over where the top of the water is to get out the excess air space and lay them flat in the freezer. If you're going on a picnic it makes a nice ice pack that you can eventually use for some drinking water as the day goes on.

This bottle is soooo amazing! It is super lightweight, rolls up into nothing, and has a good volume. It looks and feels awesome, even though its plastic it feels plenty tough. I almost always have this with me, and am constantly using it. True, it does leave a soapy aftertaste, but you can get rid of this fairly easily. Simply leave it out to air dry overnight, or fill it up with cold water, shake, empty the bottle, and repeat a few times. Great bottle!

I bought this product to use for business travel at airports. Tired of discarding water bottles at the security checkpoints only to pay $4/bottle on the other side, the Platypus bottle fit neatly into a pocket and was refillable at any water fountain or water cooler. It paid for itself in one round trip flight! I bring it to work with me every day, as well. I also appreciate the standard gauge opening that allows it to accept lids (to include push-pull lids) from any 20 oz. bottle you might buy at a vending machine.

However, after daily use for 2.5 months, creases began to form on the bottom from constant folding/expanding, which are now starting to leak. When I replace it, I will probably upgrade to the 1-liter model.

I loved being able to carry water in my parka or vest. but after after 3 months of 4 days/wk it started to leak from the bottom. Daily expansion and contraction created folds that leaked

I have used this water bottle on every backpacking and climbing trip I've been on in the last two years, and it's held up to everything that's been thrown at it and on it. Although, every time I wash it, it retains a soap flavor for the first few uses. The taste is temperature related; as the bottle warms up, the flavor strengthens.

I have been using Platypus products for more than ten years. The first Platypus soft bottle I had just last and last, and now even my mom uses it and raves about it. I decided to get a new one and it is even better - the different colour options is a nice choice to have and it seems the material used is even sturdier than before.

The best feature of the soft bottle is that you can fold it flat after drinkingthe water which means it wouldn't take up much space in your bag. It is super handy when I am travelling and the 17 fl.oz. size is perfect for my little hand-carry bag on planes.

Water tastes clean and natural, no after-taste at all. It can also double up as an emergency "ice bag" to ice an injury.
