Comments about Kelty TC 2.0 Transit Child Carrier:

By far the best carrier we tried. Comfortable to use for moms and dads, thanks to the adjustable straps and extra padding. Good for outdoor (hiking, etc), but also good for more urban uses like at the mall when your toddler will NOT spend another minute in the stroller or the airport (fits in the overhead bin AND limits the need to carry a diaper bag!!). The pocket on the waist strap is awesome; quick access to a camera or keys without disturbing the little one. The little hole on the front (below the area where the kid sits) is for your foot. "Huh?" You say. Just try getting a toddler OUT of one of these things. You need 6 hands. The foot hole is one of the best design features I've ever seen: one foot holds the carrier in place so mom/dad has two hands free to pick up the child. Our dude is super wiggly and super heavy and this product keeps him (happily!) in place and is comfortable to wear. I would recommend it to anyone!

Comments about Kelty TC 2.0 Transit Child Carrier:

This carrier is fantastic. Our son slipped in pretty quick and the safety harnesses were very easy to use. This was the perfect pack for running around town or going for short day hikes. Our son loved it because he could sit up high on my shoulders and I loved that I had my hands free. I've worn in for up to 6 hours at one time and had only minimal back pain (we've got a heavy kid). The adjustment straps are great and very intuitive. Overall, excellent product that I would highly reccomend.

Comments about Kelty TC 2.0 Transit Child Carrier:

The bottom line is that this is an excellent pack for hiking with your little one. My wife and I have an eight-month-old who's been hiking with us since he was two weeks old, and while my wife will never give up her didymos wraps, this pack stood in for a wrap and our usual day pack. It held my son, all of his diapers and gear (he's cloth diapered, so it's considerable), water, snacks, and the standard first aid/emergency gear we always carry with no problem. The space for gear is oddly configured, with an almost bell-shaped profile, but with a little imagination we managed to hold all of our gear with space left over for the unused baby wrap and a 100 oz. Camelback bladder (more on that later).

The extra pockets, especially those on the hipbelt, come in handy, and the mesh ones on the side got used as well. The back's strongest suits are its fit and breathability. I was able to custom adjust the pack in minutes, and the waistbelt, load lifters, and shoulder straps meant that I barely felt the weight. The waistbelt and its suspension on the pack are quite simply as comfortable as any pack I've ever used for backpacking, and is head and shoulders above any baby carrying system I've seen before this. The breathable back panel was a godsend, as well; five hilly miles in South Carolina in September is pretty warm, and the pack sat comfortably the whole time.

My only quarrel is with the "hydration compatible" tag that this pack gets on the website; in my book, hydration compatibility means that a pack has a) a designated pouch, pocket, or other container for a water bladder, and b) at least one, and preferably two, ports for the drinking tube from said bladder to leave the pack. This pack has neither. Of the two pockets it does have, the smaller was too small to begin to zip shut on a full bladder, so I ended up having to shove the bladder into the larger pocket on top of the rest of my gear and zip the pocket on both sides up to the tube; this was far from ideal, and not what I was expecting.

On the whole, I love the fit and carrying ability of this pack, and am looking forward to hikes we'll be able to take our son on in the future. At the same time, I do feel somewhat misled by the advertised hydration compatibility. If being able to jam a bladder or water bottles into something makes it "hydration compatible," then yes, this is, but I was expecting a little more.

Comments about Kelty TC 2.0 Transit Child Carrier:

We took this backpack with us on our recent vacation to Hawaii. We also have a Sherpani kid carrier, but like the compact design of the Kelty much better. It was a breeze going through security, and it was easy to get our guy in and out as we moved through the airport. Once in Hawaii, we were SO glad to have a backpack instead of a stroller! Walking along the beach or along roadsides without sidewalks would have been a major pain otherwise. Both my husband and I like the adjustability and comfort of the pack, despite our difference in height (I'm 5'7" and he's 6'). The sunshade is easy to operate and is nice to have with a kiddo who doesn't much like hats or sunglasses. Overall great purchase!
