Lightweight nylon fabric dries quickly and resists pilling, and is easy to pack away in a backpack
With a UPF 50+ rating, fabric provides excellent protection against harmful ultraviolet rays

There are a lot of great things about these pants - wonderful loose fit, great length. I'm 6'3" with long legs and have a difficult time (OK - impossible time) finding pants that are long enough. Thank goodness REI makes pants that are in various lengths.

However, the coloring on these pants is WAY off. I ordered 2 pairs of the Mountain Ash with 34" length (the local store doesn't carry longer pants) and was so sure I got the Oyster pants that I called REI and had them send me replacement pants. I now have four pairs of pants that look EXACTLY like the green Oyster pants (I have no idea what the Oyster pants would look like). I called REI again and the phone rep pulled the pants off the shelf there and told me the web photo is inaccurate - that the photo is really washed out.

These pants are durable and tough to hike and climb in. Add a baselayer, they stay warm. Go commando, stay cool :)

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 34" Inseam:

Really good warm-weather pants, plenty of pockets. Quality seems excellent so far.
The real reason I'm writing this review, though, is to thank whoever decides what sizes to offer. A 30" waist and 34" inseam don't strike me as unusual, but it's rare that I find it online. Finally I don't have to choose between pants that are too short and pants that are too big in the waist! Please keep offering pants for slightly thin, slightly tall people.
No real cons to report, but I do wish both back pockets had zippers. The left one has a hook-and-loop closure, which is noisy and less secure, but at least there are two back pockets.
Again, nice pants - and they stay up even if I take off my belt! My first REI purchase, and not my last.

Delivered halfway around the world in a little over a week, at a reasonable price.
