Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
I'm a senior citizen, and often found that beds in some of our favorite places were not comfortable for my old bones, so the pad was purchased to use when staying in camps or time shares. It served the purpose perfectly--easy to inflate/deflate, comfortable, a twin sheet just right. We could not fit in back in the case that came with it--my old Army duffle bag was the perfect traveling bag for the pad. And, to top it all off, it fits another of my criteria: made in the good old USA! A bit pricey, but worth it.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
I've had my dreamtime for 4 years now and it's fantastic! I used to guide full time, now I guide in the summers and if I'm car/base camping this is my bed. It's soft, comfortable, and super warm. I even lived in an igloo one winter, and slept on this thing every night for 4 months. I was always warm and comfortable on this pad.
I have the XL model and it's perfect, I even got one for my wife when we got married.
I might take this on a rafting trip, or to a big base camp, I might even take this with me on a winter trip if I was pulling a sled, or had a snow machine. At around 8lbs, it's heavier and bulkier than my 3 person tent that I use for car camping, but when you're car camping, who cares?
I definitely wouldn't take this pad on any type of backpacking trip or probably even a canoe trip, it's just too big and heavy, but if you don't have to carry it very far, it's awesome.
If you find that it's not supportive enough, you can always add more air to make it firmer. My routine is to let it self inflate in the tent, and then when I come to bed, close one valve and blow in the other to over inflate it a bit, then I lie down on it, and let air out til I hit the softness that I want.
I have the older model which has simple open cell foam, my wifes has the newer "memory foam" Her's is a bit more comfortable, but it also doesn't roll down as tight.
This thing is expensive, but it will last many many years, the cover not only keeps the foam and pad together, but also protects it from punctures. I've intentionally put mine on top of broken glass without a puncture.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
"Memory foam" is not what you expect. It is just cheap open cell foam. You pay a great deal for an inferior product. The REI 3.5" Camp Pad is much more comfortable and costs a lot less.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
I use it in my van. It keeps me comfortable, attaches well to its accessory blankets, keeps the blankets in place despite my movements, allows layering, and avoids the mummy-bag straightjacket effect. Much better than others I've tried. Sure, it stuffs relatively large and heavy. But in my truck, I don't care.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
It's basically just a Therm-a-Rest pad with an egg crate foam pad on top covered in a soft, removable cover. I would assume that it could be taken apart and the inflatable pad could be used by itself for backpacking. I love this pad. It's comfortable and warm. I've had it for over a year. I think it's made of angel feathers.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
I always use this for car camping. I use other pads for backpacking of course. For car camping you can't find a more comfortable pad. The soft fabric top on top of the memory foam on top of a 2.5" pad is amazing.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
This is the most comfortable sleeping pad ever! We have two of the XL versions and when placed side by side, they are as comfortable as our bed at home! I had to write a review because I often see people complaining about the support on these pads and ending up on the ground. I have never had such a problem. I weigh 200 lbs. and it has never let me down. I often wonder if people realize that there are TWO valves on these pads. If you leave one open, it will not stay inflated. They must both be fully closed for the pad to operate properly!! On another note, if you stack two of these pads on top of each other, it is SUPER comfortable... This is often where I end up when I'm sick or "on the couch" and sometimes I don't really mind!
Definitely not for backpacking, and bulky for small car camping, but If you have the space and the $ Go For It!!

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
We've got a mixture of 5 Thermarest pads and love them all. This is the best of the bunch. For car camping, this can't be matched for comfort. Takes 2 base camp models to beat it. Nonslip surface and insulates well. The straps make it easy to carry. I just use it as a sling for carrying over my back which frees up my 2 hands to carry other items. Have only 2 comments. It's meant for car camping. Too bulky when packed for backpacking. Also, after several years of heavy use, stitching on one corner is coming loose. Eventually we'll use REI's member return policy to replace it but not for a few years yet. Of course we could always try to fix it, but I'm no seamstress.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
My employment is such that I spend close to 200 nights a week on this mattress. I love it!! I sleep better on this than on most hotel beds. Its shows no signs of wear (except where my dog chewed up on one of the straps) and it really is comfortable. If you don't mind spending the money, its worth it, especially if you plan on using it a lot. It is a pain to roll up tight, but its worth the effort. Just a hint, it is more comfortable if you blow it up a bit more than the level that it inflates itself to.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest DreamTime Sleeping Pad:
Up until this yr. my family and I have been tent campers. (Now we have a popup.) I've been in Scouting for years on too many campouts to count. We've got 5 Thermarest pads and this pad is the best. As with all Thermarests, you can adjust the inflatable pad to suit your taste. I like it firm so you don't bottom out but with a bit of a cushion so you sink in. Because this one is based on their thickest inflatable, I've found it to be the most comfortable. The foam pad is soft so you can keep the inflatable pad a bit firmer than the standard 2.5" pad used by itself. The only way to improve it's function would be to replace the foam with a different density. The non-sliding surface is the best of all their different pads and this pad is also the warmest. This pad is bulkier than the others and is strickly for car camping but is much easier to roll up since you don't use a stuff sack. The only criticism I have is that two of the seams on the outer shell opened up after 4 yrs. of use. [...]
