After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Scott Speedster S50 Bike - 2010:

Overall, this is a great bike. It has great style, visually appealing, good geometry, and with a proper fitting at a pro cycling shop, is sure to ride very well on long rides. Sure it doesn't have the best components, but to get higher end/higher quality components, you be spending closer to $2000. For the price, these components are satisfactory, and can be upgraded for a reasonable price. I've already had the stem replaced with one that has several adjustment options, it was only $20 and made the ride way better. It's light for it's class of an aluminum alloy frame. I also have an all-carbon framed bike and this is only slightly heavier. Getting a proper fit and adjustment can make the biggest difference. Happy Cycling!

Comments about Scott Speedster S50 Bike - 2010:

I bought this bike to commute and get myself in better shape in my free time. I rode it about 5-10 miles and realized that I couldn't shift through the whole set of rear gears without the chain rubbing on the front derailleur. It came to my attention that this has to do with poor components, in that the shifters have only one-step shifting. Better quality shifters move in multiple steps eliminating this problem. About 1 week after buying this bike, I returned it and moved to a bike with better components.

The bike looks great, rides nicely (other than the shifting), and has a good geometry [for me].

Comments about Scott Speedster S50 Bike - 2010:

This Bike is a lot of bike without breaking the bank. Handles and rides like a more expensive bike, responsive and sleek. The components are not the greatest, but the bike overall surely makes up for this.

Comments about Scott Speedster S50 Bike - 2010:

i bike to and from work every day. I love this bike! it absolutely flies, it fits very well, the geometry is great, and I've had nothing even remotely go wrong with it. The only con, and its not even that bad, is the seat is a little uncomfortable. But if you're wearing shorts it helps, and over time i think I'll get used to it. but i love the bike! perfect!

Comments about Scott Speedster S50 Bike - 2010:

I've ridden this bike close to 2000 miles and just finished a 555 mile ride. Nice feel and comfortable. Main issue with this bike are the components. Get this bike from a shop that has free adjustments because you'll need it. I brought the bike in every week with shifting issues. They agreed that Scott missed the mark on the components. I'll be upgrading the components soon. Not a big issue but the bar tape is white and gets dirty and shows it.
