Scott CR1 Elite Compact all-carbon road bike features a revamped geometry, the lightweight, responsive SRAM Rival gruppo and Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels for podium-level performance.

  • CR1 carbon frame is oriented toward performance as well as comfort, combining low weight, lateral stiffness and accommodating top and head tube lengths
  • The result of the frame design is a performance-bred ride that handles and rides comfortably—not quite a pure racing machine, but close
  • All-carbon fork, chainstays and seatstays feature Scott's Shock Dampening System (SDS) to absorb road vibration, helping reduce fatigue and conserve energy
  • 20-speed compact drivetrain utilizes the SRAM Rival gruppo and a Shimano Ultegra cassette
  • Rival dual-pivot brakes provide dependable deceleration
  • Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels and Continental Ultra Race folding tires serve up responsive handling and minimized rolling resistance for excellent performance
  • Ritchey Carbon Pro seatpost is topped with a Scott Road Pro SL saddle; cockpit is rounded out with Scott Road stem and handlebar
  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Scott CR1 Elite Compact Bike - 2010:

All around superstar. While one reviewer commented on the poor quality of the SRAM components, I disagree. They're not as smooth as Ultegra, but they're responsive, solid, and for SRAM's entry-level road group, I would take it over Tiagra and 105 any day, and I'd put it against Ultegra.

The frame does just what Scott says it should.

The seat is a throw-away, but no serious rider would ride on a plastic seat anyway.

Get this bike if you like to ride hundreds of miles a week (not a commuter) and you want it to work day in and day out.

Comments about Scott CR1 Elite Compact Bike - 2010:

This is my second CR1 and wanted to let people know about issues with the Elite model Rival components. Basically, the chain rubs the front derailleur and won't shift despite trimming and after REI mechanic adjustments, the shifter covers bulge causing bruising on base of my thumbs, and the chain is covered in tiny metal shavings. If you are looking for a CR1 frame, get the 105 or Ultegra (of course Dura-Ace or anything else would be nice) depending on your budget. My older 105 set worked better than the Rival. The frame, headset, handlebar, wheels, and brakes are excellent! I was excited to try the SRAM Rival but very disappointed.

I love this bike. It's so light and fast! I couldn't ask for anything better. Seat is unconformtale and that is it.
