Aluminum frame geometry is designed specifically for female mountain bikers, creating a more comfortable ride and less fatigue for women when compared to unisex frames

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Don't buy this bike if you actually want to ride a bicycle. I bought this bike as an "entry level" bike in March 2010 after riding a Goodwill "beater bike" (Mongoose with self-modifications) for about a year. I kept having flat tires and thought maybe I shouldn't be riding this particular bike on unpaved paths. The problem was the rims had a design flaw. After some back and forth between Scott and REI, (Scott claims they've had no other complaints about the rims) REI ended up making the rims good by replacing them. Not sure if Scott provided anything to REI in return. Now, I'm having problems with the sprocket --- looking to probably replace it soon. I'm not out of a lot of money so far -- inexpensive bike, a lot of bike tubes, but more frustration and anger than anything else. Replacing two tubes on what was supposed to be a 4-5 hour ride and still ending up carrying the bike out of the woods is not my idea of a good time. You get what you pay for -- if you are going to ride anywhere but around your neighborhood on weekends, you're going to have to spend more than $500-$600 ($1,000 maybe as a start?).

Service and delivery comments:

REI, as usual, has been very accommodating and gone way beyond what I expected from any business in dealing with this bike. I should have, however, been suspect when I took delivery of the bike and it had a flat tire.

This has been a great mountain bike. I've ridden it on all types of terrain. I ride mostly in the sun valley/stanley, idaho area but have also ridden it in oregon, arizona, and even on some slickrock in moab, ut. It has handled great, even with all of the abuse I throw at it on my rides. I had an issue with the brakes not being adjusted correctly, thus feeling some drag, but that has been fixed and it rides great!
