I've owned Kelty products since 1974 and I've always felt satisfied with the product quality for its intended purpose. Since we own the Kelty air mattress for comfort/car camping, this sleeping bag seemed like a great idea, it's "designed" by Kelty to stay on the Kelty mattress, so you'd hope their claim would be at least half true. Sadly, the sleeping bag does not stay on the air mattress and I'm not sure staples, a hot glue gun and half pound of 10 penny nails would do the trick. The material inside the bag grips and sticks to your body (clothes make it worse) so that the normal shifting one might do to get a good nights sleep, results in the bag adhering to you - making you and your partner into a human burrito. By morning, you'll need search and rescue to extricate you from your tent! To make matters worse, after setting up the bag and air mattress and enjoying an active day in the cool sierra mountain air, when I settled down for my first night's sleep, I quickly discovered my toes exposed to the cold night air, due the space left between the zippers where the two sides meet. [*] C'mon Kelty... Even a 3 year old could design a sleeping bag without this fatal flaw. I stuffed some clothes in the bottom of the bag to temporarily cure the problem but I'll be returning the bag as soon as I can get to my local REI. Kelty blew it with this one but I have many other Kelty products I'm pleased with.

I was very excited for this bag, but after one night I had to take it back. It did not want to stay on the air mattress which was the selling feature for me. The bottom layer had less insulation than the top and we could feel the cold air from the mattress. And even though the bag is rated for 30, we were freezing at 40 despite having layers on. We are used to camping in cool soggy weather in the Pacific Northwest, but after one night in this bag, we knew we weren't going to make it a second. Our kids were very disappointed that we had to head home a day early just because mom and dad's sleeping bag wasn't good enough.

Despite what others griped about, this product was purchased and came exactly as intended. First night in it the temps dropped to 25 and I was toasty warm. It is a 30 degree bag, so I have no intentions of taking it on a summer camping trip, but for a fall/spring excursion, this bag is the perfect setup for your wife or girlfriend (for those who struggle getting them to go, it helps for them to know they'll be warm!).

My only complaint (and the only reason it gets 4 stars) would be moving around created air movement inside the bag, thus freezing the lady. It has drawcords, but they don't work that well with 2 people under.

This is the perfect sleeping bag for couples car camping. It's roomy, warm and the material is comfortable on bare skin. No way would I pack this thing anywhere though. If you want comfort and warmth, look no further.
