Comments about Osprey 2L HydraForm Reservoir - 70 fl. oz.:
Over the years, I have been a devoted Camelbak and Platypus consumer. In fact, I remember the first Camelbaks back when they came with a simple sleeve and basic straps that I used for mountain biking. Over the years I have moved from mountain biking to hiking and have bought more than a few brands of reservoirs. The problem I was beginning to have is that the standard reservoir would bulge or slide down the the stowed container, i.e. inside a pack. Also, I've had more than a few get punctured for whatever reason. Reservoirs will offer years of service, but I just seem to be very rough with them and end up with a punctured or ripped reservoir. The other day, I decided to go back to Nalgene bottles for carrying in my pack, along with my dromedary bag. When I mentioned this to a sales associate at REI, she showed me the Osprey Hydroform 2.0 L. I was impressed because of the following reasons:1. There is a firm plastic sheet integrated in the system to keep it from sliding down inside the pack.2. The bite valve cannot be accidentally opened by a gremlin, thereby losing H2O.3. The back is protected by ripstop and the front has a handle integrated with the screw on cap that also protects the tube. Incidentally, this handle also prevents the tube from torquing the sealed connection between the tube and reservoir. 4. Only about 25% of the bladder is exposed, thereby reducing the risk of accidental puncture. 5. As a nurse, I have seen Foley catheters impregnated with silver, which is a natural antibiotic. Interestingly, the tube looks exactly like what I have seen in the clinical setting, a cloudy looking tube.My first day out, I filled the reservoir which was easy because of the integrated handle. The reservoir slid easily into the reservoir sleeve of my pack. The reservoir did not move for my entire day hike which lasted approx. 8 hrs. I refilled it once, in the morning and just after lunch. The most notable point about this reservoir, I NEVER felt it along my back! I could not tell it was there, other than the weight.

Comments about Osprey 2L HydraForm Reservoir - 70 fl. oz.:
I was frustrated with my Camelbak reservoir, as I have major difficulty unscrewing the reservoir cap, as it gets stuck shut. Plus, it bulged out (uncomfortably) like a balloon in my new REI Stoke 19 hydration pack. So, I tried this new Osprey Hydraform Reservoir System in my Stoke 19. The Osprey reservoir fits snugly in the sleeve and does not bulge out at all. Very comfortable against my back and stable. The Osprey reservoir comes with a magnetic clip for the hose, which I clipped onto my sternum strap. Thus, I can position the hose exactly where I want to and it stays in place while trail running, right below my mouth. The Osprey reservoir has a handle which makes it super easy to fill up. Just hold onto the handle, hang the hose over your shoulder, and fill it up with water and ice. By the way, the cap on the Osprey reservoir unscrews very easily and seals up nicely until time ready to refill! I am giving my old Camelbak away to a friend who needs a temporary reservoir until he can buy an Osprey Hydraform of his own.

I use this with my Osprey Talon 22 daypack. It fits very nicely into the special sleeved area designed for it, and the magnetic keeper on the pack sternum strap keeps the bite valve in a convenient location. I'm very pleased with it.

I got this bladder to put in the rei flash 18. The fit is perfect and it gives the pack a little bit of structure against the back. Haven t had any issues with leaking and the magnet feature is very clever.

Comments about Osprey 2L HydraForm Reservoir - 70 fl. oz.:
I used this all summer taking timber inventory and its held up great. My pack was full of equipment, some of it with sharp points, but the well protected bladder came out of it without showing a single nick. The easy to use handle and frame keep it from sagging or shifting even during a full day in the field. The small mounting magnet is quite strong, I used it to hold my folded map between the valve and mount sometimes, and keeps the tube, which is also very sturdy, from bobbing around. However, when you're old-fashioned and rely mainly on a compass for navigation, the magnetic clip can interfere with readings. (it can deflect the reading of a compass held 12 inches away as much as 10 degrees) This can be an issue until you figure out why you keep straying between plots. The pivot valve is good idea, and at first worked like a dream, but, after use, the soft rubber surrounding the hard plastic center of the bite valve began to break, (maybe my teeth are just really sharp) and would leak if I didn't lock the valve. I was fine with this, but as time went on the shutoff also started losing its seal, resulting in a steady drip, leaving me thirsty quickly. Replacement valves are available, but I think I might return it instead and upgrade to a 3L, I just need more water.

This is a very well engineered bladder. In fact for me it was over engineered. I use a small 19l daypack with a bladder compartment and while this bladder did fit, it was just too much. The magnetic chest strap clip is really nice, and the bladder worked it's way into the daypack just fine, but it is really engineered for the hose to come out on one side, and that worked against the zipper on the compartment. I'm not sure why the hose loop is sewn into the bladder, as it really reduces versatility. For my light hiking and casual use, it was just a bit too much. It also made the daypack a bit too stiff and upright when inserted. For a slightly bigger pack and more frequent/rugged use, this bladder is probably perfect.

Great Reservoir! I bought it because I have the REI flash 18 and wanted a little structure to the pack. This fit the bill, perfect! It fills to exactly 2 liters. I love the form fit back as it just hugs the back nicely.
The only issue, and not really an issue, is I should have bought the 3L version. The hikes I do require a little more water and I thought this would cut it. So its not really a product issue in any respect. I am going to get the 3L and see how it fits in the Flash 18. (BTW, Love the flash 18)

This bladder is great. It has a wide mouth for easy cleaning. It has a rigid back that is formed to the curve of your back. The nozzle has an open and close position. The nozzle also has a magnet on it. The bladder comes with a loose magnet to put on your pack to the nozzle fits securely in the magnet.

I love this hydration reservoir made by Osprey/Nalgene. Filling the reservoir is made easy with its integrated handle. There is a plastic back panel that forms to the frame of both my Stratos 24 and Talon 44 Osprey packs; this feature is also nice because when it becomes empty it does not slide to the bottom of the hydration compartment, like some other companies' reservoirs. The lid of the reservoir is nice and wide which makes filling it a breeze. I have had it for about five months now ,and so far I have not encountered any leaks. When not in use I simply stick it in the freezer to inhibit any sort of grungy bacterial growth.
