      Comments about Yakima FatCat 4 Ski/Snowboard Mounts:

      No, it's not super easy to install, but any handy person can install the racks in <20 minutes. My tall car + low carport required the extra inch of clearance these give me vs. the Powderhound, which REI graciously accepted as a return (also appear to be well engineered).
      I like the clever slide-over-the-bolts system for locking the racks to the car. Best feature of all is the little allen wrench storage clip inside the rack itself -- I always misplaced the wrench for my old ski racks so this is a very welcome feature.
      Not happy I had to fork over an extra $90 to get these instead of the Powderhounds, but the low profile of the FatCat is quiet and I can leave them on all winter.
      Note that I'm reviewing the 'old' model currently on clearance price. Not familiar with the new version that appears to have flimsier rack mounting points.
