Aluminum CAAD9 BB30 frame features taper-butted tubesets for increased strength and weight savings; geometry is modeled after pro-level designs for ultimate performance
BB30 bottom bracket shell design, with pressed-in bearing cups, an oversized spindle and a large shell, increases stiffness for improved power transfer
Slice Premium monocoque carbon fork supplies exceptional handling, slicing through corners and damping high frequency road vibrations; carbon steerer shaves weight
Compact SRAM Force BB30 crankset powers the 20-gear drivetrain, which features SRAM Rival derailleurs and shifters
Tektro R580 dual-pivot caliper brakes help save weight while maintaining reliable braking performance
Lightweight Shimano wheelset is decked out with grippy Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Slick tires for great road feel and handling
Cockpit is outfitted with a Control Tech ONE handlebar and a carbon seatpost that's topped with a Prologo Kappa Pas saddle

To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. So I've had the Caad9 for about 5 weeks. So far, so good. It took a few short rides to get used to the gear shifting. Once I got the hang of it, it preforms well. The bike is solid and the components feel very durable. With proper care I can't imagine anything giving out real soon. I'm pleased with my selection.

This is my second Cannondale (first one in the early 90's). That bike was too rigid and a bit jaring on long, 100+ mile rides. Cannondale has got the right formula with the CAAD 9-4. The bike is rigid where it needs to be, and flexible enough to be comfortable. Great components as well! My only nit is the bar stem - too upright for my liking, and a bit too short as well. A terrific value for the serious cyclist!

This bike is pretty amazing. I use the bike for training for races and racing. It's very responsive and very stiff when sprinting, riding fast, and climbing. The components are also great (SRAM rival and force).
