The Cannondale F7 hardtail mountain bike is a blast to ride, thanks to nimble handling and a plush suspension fork, and it's budget friendly.

  • Butted T6061 aluminum CO2 frame offers great handling and a solid, lightweight ride on smooth or bumpy terrain
  • If the terrain does take a turn for the bumpy, fear not—the RST Gila Pro suspension fork delivers 100mm of travel, rebound adjustment and lockout
  • Breeze through the 24 gears with the crisp SRAM X-4 trigger shifters and rear derailleur; once in gear, hammer away on Shimano cranks
  • If fate has it that you should need to slow down, Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes have you covered
  • Formula DC20/22 hubs are laced onto double-walled Alex rims; Kenda Small Block 8 tires take care of traction
  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

      Comments about Cannondale F7 Bike - 2010:

I'm reviewing this bike for its price range. I've worked at a few bike shops that have carried Cannondale's F7s so I'm very familiar with this bike. For the price, it is not a bad bike at all. If you're looking for a hardtail that would get you started into mountain biking, this is one of them. I've ridden this bike on some easy but fun singletrack and it's handled that just fine. With the lockout on the fork, the bike climbs well also. I've read the other reviewer. What happened to your bike is expected. It's got nothing to do with the bike you've purchased. When you buy a bike, the cables stretch as you ride it. [...]

            Comments about Cannondale F7 Bike - 2010:

I believe my F7 is an 09 model, but its a great bike

The biggest con I would say really is the Biggest pro,
this things got some lbs, it uses more energy to move it than a pencil frame bike with 1/2" tires.
but this thing was built tough for a reason.
I tip the scales at 135 lbs. but its all meat. So I blend well with this bike. I love powering up steep rocky hills on this bike.
I prefer the hardtails rather than full suspention mostly because when your pumpin the peddles hard, alot of the energy is put into making you bounce up and down rather than it all going into the peddles. The shocks up front are all I really need, I dislike 29"ers cuz my feet touch the front tire when peddleing and turning. This bike (though it not be 29" tires) is stretched out enough that it wouldn't be a problem if it did have 29"s. Plus the fact that you can lockout the shocks up front is great if your ridding on the road, so all effort is transfered into foreward momentum rather than into the shocks.

This is my noble steed, and I enjoy riding it.

              Comments about Cannondale F7 Bike - 2010:

I am a 31 year old guy who was sick of driving 4 miles to work everyday, so I wanted to invest in a good bike. Road bike wasn't an option due to horrible roads, so I wanted a mountain bike (not a huffy this time).

As a first time "real" mountain bike purchase, I think this bike is great. It shifts well, the shocks are useful, ride is smooth. It is a bit heavy but I had no problem with this for as a beginner rider

I would not hesitate to recommend this bike or purchase another cannondale. Great bike at a great price!

Save your money or spend it on another bike.
After just two months, it's impossible to shift. The chain comes off frequently. The chain is of such poor quality that I already have to replace it as it has "stretched" making it impossible to ride. The chain skips constantly.
I heard the very same complaints from folks who bought last year's model as well.
                  Seriously, get a different bike.

                    Comments about Cannondale F7 Bike - 2010:

I didn't want something "cheap" and regret it. When I test rode the F7, I really liked the bike and bought it. Soon I added a Thud Buster and this bike just is a joy to ride on the street or trails. Granted, I don't do real rough stuff but bumps are bumps and I hit a LOT of them, not just small ones either.

It shifts great and handles great. I can't justify paying about 3 times as much for a full suspension and can not understand how just adding a rear shcck with a few more pivot points and pieces of metal adds another $1000 or so to the price. Anyway, I smile with my F7 with Thud Buster every time I ride it. It brings out the kid in me.
