The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
These are great shoes. I have owned several pairs of the low and mid hight in the last few years, and they are the shoes against which all others are judged. That said I have owned several pairs. They wear out fast and at their high price this is a real draw back. Expect only one to two years of use if that use is strenuous.

Purpose/goal: I'm older and a runner. I try to get a couple half-marathons and at least one marathon in a year. I say this not to brag, but to emphasize that I know how important it is to take care of your feet. Yet, despite this firsthand knowledge, I have always cheated when buying casual shoes. This fall I planned a trip to Europe with the intent of doing a month-long trek through a number of different cities – Berlin, Prague, Vienna and Aviano (it was wonderful). Prior to my departure, I spent some time reviewing and trying out different casual "trekking" shoes (ones nice enough to wear to work and even into a casual restaurant). Fortunately, I am an REI member and I took full advantage of the "buy them, try them out, and if they don't work for you, bring them back" member privilege. Sensitive to the need for both style and functionality, I tried a number of different shoes and brands before settling on the Lowa Renegade II GTX® Lo. Pro/Con: Lava shoes run extremely small. I usually wear a 12-13, but with the Lava, it was snug with a 14. (I do wear an insert, though, which makes most shoes snug.) I bought a pair of 14s and wore them for a week. It was frustrating. They felt really good, but I found them to be tight in the toes - even the 14s. I took them back to REI and they told me that this particular model was available in a wide, which I ordered. Quality to Purpose: The shoes are very well constructed. If you tie them loose, they stay loose; tie them tight and they stay tight. A good, comfortable feel for your feet.Price to Purpose: While I think nothing of dropping big bucks for running shoes, I choked a little at the price of these shoes - [$]. I scoured the internet and found that most retailers hold to the same price for Lowa shoes, with shipping options being the biggest difference between sellers.Do again: With no real "break in" time, I left for Europe. I'm on the plane headed home now. My touring of Berlin/Prague/Vienna/Aviano easily had me walking 5-10 miles each day on streets, cobblestones, stone stairs, paths, etc. And I have to marvel at how good my feet still feel in the shoes. While others on the plane have slid there foot wear off, I feel no such need. A good choice, a good feel, and, yes, worth the price.

Great shoes, but within 2 weeks of wear the leather around the eyelet hole for the laces pulled through. There is a very thin strip of leather to hold the lacing eyelets, which is fine for casual use around town, but I tend to really crank down on the laces when I'm on the trail. I would instead recommend the Tempest Lo for trail use. The Tempest Lo has a sturdier lacing system, the same footbed and sole but but lacks the Gortex liner.

Working on concrete all day kills my feet. The rubber soles on these shoes cushion my feet well, and doesn't break down as fast as the foam soles on my cushy running sneakers. I wear these everywhere, unless the snow gets deep! Today I walked around In 6 inches of slush and had DRY FEET!! The guy who turned me on to these has been wearing his for 3 years, and the only visible wear is 1 small seam split! My last Sneakers lasted 6 months before my feet just started hurting all the time. If I get 3 years out of these I'll do flips!!

Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I was excited when this design returned as I know it is a good fit for my foot shape. I took a chance and picked up a pair a couple Springs ago and within two weeks wore them for an unsupported walk to the Mt. Everest Base Camp. These shoes performed well, keeping my feet dry and comfortable with no foot related issues throughout the hike. They are my daily wander around shoes that also get out on Cascade mountain week or more backpacking trips. This is not the designed use, but they work for me. I am on my second pair, though, since after a couple of thousand miles of abuse, they began to tear out at the front where the foot bed meets the upper, thus the 4 stars. Honestly, many of the trips I took were under a pretty pretty high pack weight and this use is outside of the design, so that fail is no surprise. If they fit your feet, you are likely to enjoy them.

Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I purchased a pair of LOWA Renegade GTX a little over a year ago. The top of the boot is now separating from the sole and they are unserviceable. My use of the boots is for light walking and not very heavy usage. The performance of the boots is substandard.

Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
Have been wearing Lowa Renegade GTX Mids for at least 4 years and constantly rave about them for support and comfort. Based on reviews on REI Web site ordered Lowa Renegade GTX Los in same size. Got them today. Even with laces completely loosened, shoes are extremely tight (don't think any amount of breakin will resolve that issue). Also, shoe is WAY too short, i.e., my toes hit the end of the shoe. Shoes are going back to REI for refund because I don't think the next larger size will solve both fit issues, plus I'm not one to play the reorder game in the hope of finding something that fits. Still love my Lowa Mids, which adds to the disappointment of this situation.

Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I really love the Lowa Renegade product. This is my second pair...not because the first one's wore out, but because I'm such a fan of these shoes.
They're comfortable, supportive, durable and just keep on going. I am prone to ankle rolls/sprains, but I find that in these shoes, somehow I'm less prone to that happening.
They're more expensive than other brands, but you really get your money's worth with this product and Lowa overall.

Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
These hiking shoes are amazing. The other review is wrong in saying they are good for running because these aren't trail running shoes. These are bomb proof and will most likely last me 2000+ miles of hiking.
