Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
Great bag for the price. Already tested it in its rated termperature and it was cozy with a Big Agnes Air Core sleeping pad and just basic clothing. Snaggy zipper is my only complaint, but whatever...
I checked out many other bags in this price range and this was the one I settled on.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
The Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag is a great bag for 3 season camping because it is incredibly comfortable and packs easily and into a typical size. My only issues with the bag are that the zipper snags ridiculously easily and that it's really only comfortable for temperatures above freezing. I've slept in it down to about 32 degrees and felt great but recently I slept down to the low 20's and I was cold. Also, the zipper snag normally wouldn't be an issue because if you take your time you're fine. However, when you're freezing and trying to zip up quickly, that's when it snags.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
Great bag for a great price. Was skeptical because of the price but was very impressed when I slept outside in the Sierra Nevadas on a 30 degree night. Slept in shorts and no shirt and was not woken up once by how cold it was. The zipper is a little bit of a hassle as everyone says. It also packs a little big but if you buy a compression sack you'll be fine.
Overall, Im really happy with this bag. I could have gone for a more expensive bag but 20 degrees for 100 bucks, you really cant beat it. Super quality.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
I took this sleeping bag to Shenandoah national park on 4/27 and 4/28 and was happy with it. It packs small, it comfy and it has lots of room in it. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that when your waking up the zipper is kind of a pain. For the price I definitely recommend buying this bag.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
My first use was actually in my living room for a test run and with the heat off and regular jams, I was definitely toasty. The zipper does catch but I haven't had a panic moment yet. The regular length is roomy and ig you want some additional warmth, it's easy to stuff the foot box with extra clothing from your pack. I'm a little keptical about fabric durability, but this deal was way too good to pass up.
Novice backpackers and campers, give this beauty a try. You won't go broke over it and you're getting a great starter :]

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
This is a very good sleeping bag. It is very comfortable, easily compressible to fit in my rucksack, and has a very durable material. I haven't tested the limit on its temperature rating but I have slept in low 40's to high 30's and felt very comfortable. I was sleeping on a tent mat and sleeping pad so I wasn't feeling any coldness from the ground but I was never cold during the night. I feel it could've easily handled another 10 degrees or so but I can't confirm a 20 degree rating. The only negative I have on it is that the zipper does snap relatively easily. This is not because of a cheap quality zipper. It's actually a very high quality mechanism. But it snags easily because of a design flaw where they put the inside zipper liner too lose next to the zipper. It will catch almost every time you try to zip yourself up. This might not seem like a big issue when reading about it but put yourself in a tent in near freezing weather where every second you are exposed you feel like you're freezing. You want your zipper to consistently close you in. Still, the pros definitely outweigh the cons so this bag is worth getting for the price.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
I was a little apprehensive when I first got my pinole as it was so inexpensive. I managed to get it on sale for [$], just $4 more than some bag liners. Although it didn't have the silk-like shiny fabrics, glow in the dark zipper pulls, little zippered pocket etc. that I'm used to it is still a very good looking bag. In fact, it looks like a more expensive bag than it is. And to be fair, I've never used the little pocket on my other bags and only once noticed that my zipper pull was glowing. However, it does come with a cool stuff sack that turns inside out and becomes a fleece pillow. More useful in my opinion. In reference to size, I am 5' 10", weigh 165 and the regular size fits me perfectly. I've not had issues with the zipper snagging as others have noted. However, when I'm zipping/unzipping any bag I always try to position a finger in front of zipper pull to move any fabric out of the way. All zippers snag so I always do this. The hood cinches down nicely and seemed effective at keeping the warm air in. Overall, the quality of the materials and construction seems to be excellent. My Pinole arrived a day too late to test it in temps in the mid twenties but I was able to do a night at 32 degrees in the open air with very little wind. I always use a tent except when I'm testing a new bag. I put the Pinole over a Thermarest Trail Pro and slept in an old pair of running tights, a loose fitting long sleeve t-shirt and a MH Dome Perignon cap. After laying out the bag and getting in, the first thing I noticed was the bag seemed to be warming up pretty quickly. I was cozy warm in just a few minutes and stayed that way without issue. I can't imagine how the one reviewer here claimed to get cold in this bag with the temp in the 40s. Based upon my experience, I would think I'd have to do a little venting with the temp in the 40s and I'm not a hot sleeper. I'm hoping for some colder weather soon so I can test it into the twenties. Based upon it's performance at 32 degrees I can't imagine it wouldn't do fine at around twenty degrees assuming you're wearing the proper layers.Had I payed the full price for this bag I'd still be very pleased. But for what I paid I feel like I won the lottery.I can't speak to its long term durability, but as I mentioned before, the quality of the construction appears excellent.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
I don't have alot of experience, and too much of it has been not very well thought out and with improper gear.
This was my first purchase when I decided to actually plan and prepare for overnight hiking trips.
It has worked out great so far. A few overnighters in the Sawtooths and no major complaints.
My only concerns seem to mirror most other peoples.
1- The zipper does seem a little rough, but take your time and your okay.
2- The bag seems very warm, but I don't know if the temp rating is correct. I spent a couple of nights where it got down below freezing and I could definitely tell it was cold. Not enough to be worried, but more than I expected.
3- It doesn't pack really small, but if you're too worried about it get a compression bag for it.
All in all a very good bag for a great price.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
I have the long version of this bag, and I'm 6'4". I tested it into the 30's on a Thermarest Pro Lite and stayed warm. I rencently camped on snow at 20F and a little lower. I wore my long underwear, socks and scarf and added a poncho liner inside just in case but probably didn't need it. I stayed warm all night. I tend to toss and turn and there's plenty of room in this bag for that. The zipper tends to snag, but once you've used it a few times it gets easier. I purchased this bag for the price and weight, and it performs well.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Pinole Sleeping Bag:
The first thing I noticed using this bag is that it was snug. Laying on my back with my arms at my side I could only move them a couple of inches away from my side and I am not big, 5'11 175lbs The bag this one is replacing was much roomier. On the other hand this bag is much warmer. Just got back from a weekend where temps dipped into the mid 20's and I was toasty all night, and that is what I was looking for. The zipper is a problem no if's and's or but's about it, fix that and maybe a little more room and I'd give it 5 stars.
