Comments about Mountain Hardwear Lamina Sleeping Bag:
So, This bag has been taken on many trips to different places, to list a few; the sequoias, palomar mountain, anza borrego and sailing on a tall ship to the catalina islands. And for every trip this bag has been great. The only thing i didn't very much like about it is that the zipper snags unbelievably easy. When i first read the reviews before buying, seeing the cons that said "zipper snags easy" I thought to myself... "naaaw they're weenies, every bag is gonna have some king of snaggage". Well this bag snags pretty much every other time i zip it up or down and when it snags its snaged for a good 5-10 minutes before i can get it open again. And a few times ended up in me having to squirm out of the top of the bag like a fresh butterfly. BUT the AWESOME thing about this bag is that it's so incredibly warm i pretty much never had to sleep with it zipped up even while sleeping under the stars on the top of a mountain in anza borrgo in November. But if zombies invade and you have this zipped up, hope they dont find you and think ur a yummy sausage roll.
Also. This bag dries really fast. I almost bought a down bag but the paranoid/ clumsy side of me felt I should get a synthetic, so I chose this bag. And what do you know while chillin at the campfire after a long days hike I crawl into my tent and find that almost my entire camelback leaked onto the foot end of my bag. D: OH NO! I thought of course it was so late I just wrapped my feet in an emergency blanket to stay dry, but first thing in the morning I set it out to dry, by the time I came back from hiking, what was soaked all the way through was now 100% dry!
One more thing. it's very easy to pack. All in all very awesome bag for all kinds of trips and worth it.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Lamina Sleeping Bag:
I have never written a review about anything in my life, but I love this sleeping bag so much that I feel that I have to give it some props. I camped for 4 months in patagonia with it, I camped in the winter in northern california with it for 2 months, many of those nights getting well below freezing, and I was always snug as a bug. I also used it in costa rica, where it was very hot, and it was perfect to lie in with the zipper opened. It compresses to a small size and is really durable.
the one complaint I have is the zipper, as many other people expressed, the zipper snags, however, in the defense of the bag, I think that the smaller zipper allows the bag to stay warmer.

Very warm and comfortable. Super roomy, It lets me easily roll over all night, even with my small pillow.
But I had a lot of trouble with the the zipper got stuck every time, I am a little claustrophobic, so it was like a terror movie trying to get out of there!! Definitely I'll keep it, but will try to fix the zipper.

i used this bag on a 31 day backpacking course with NOLS in the eastern side of the northcascades. there isnt anything this bag wont do. we stayed a total of a week on the snow with nothing but a thin nylon sheet and a therma-rest and kept warm all night. this back kept me warm through it all rain sleet and SNOW!. it also drys very quick. it also slows down odor pretty well. the zipper does catch alot but it can be prevented by pulling out on the zipper while pulling down. other than that this bag will keep you warm in any condition. safe travels everyone L.N.T

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Lamina Sleeping Bag:
I used this bag over the weekend on an overnighter to test out the temp rating. The weather was calling for low 30s, so i thought it would be a good time to go. The low for the night turned out to be around 40deg. I had to sleep with the bag unzipped halfway, because it was too hot inside with it closed. I'll test it out in colder weather later in the season. I am 5'11 and I barely fit into the regular size bag, so I got the tall size. This size fit me great. I had enough room to move around without feeling constricted. Comfortable lightweight materials used in this bag almost make it feel like a down bag. Zipper snags a lot, but it can be unstuck pretty easily. Overall it is a good bag, but I will still need to test it in colder weather.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Lamina Sleeping Bag:
I used this during a 40 day expedition to the Indian Himalaya where we camped for 2+weeks above 15,000 feet, including time at 17,000+ feet. When we were at 17,000+ I used a silk sleeping bag liner, which was great. This bag kept me warm and packed pretty small for being a synthetic bag, which are always bulkier and heavier than down. The bag would get a little damp/wet during the night from the condensation from the tent and it kept me warm. Most mornings we had the time to dry our bags but on the few times we had pack the bags wet I was still warm when I slept.
I'm 5'0" and I got the short one, which was great. I stuffed my down layers into the bag for added warmth and comfort. I was one of the few that slept warm every night. It was hard to get out of the bag in the morning!
The stuff sack that comes with the bag actually works really well and has survived the trip really well.
If you want a really small and lightweight bag you should go with down. But if you aren't willing to spend the money on a down bag and need something that can endure getting wet/damp and being packed wet, this is a great bag.

I took this bag to Patagonia for six months. It kept me warm in a variety of challenging circumstances ranging from the coast to a camp in the middle of the southern ice field. But the darn zipper snags--as far back into the trip as I can remember it snagged every time I tried to use it. I suspect the cause is delamination, because the shell progressively got looser from the insulation.
The skinny: if you need an inexpensive 0 degree bag and you won't be using the hell out of it, then go for it. If you are going to be doing a lot of 0 degree camping, go for something more durable and well made.

I got this bag for my winter backcountry class. I used it in a hammock and on the snow with just my sleeping pad. I was very warm all night. I am 6'1" and 220lb so I got the long size. It packs down small and for a 0 degree bag its light.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Lamina Sleeping Bag:
I went with a class on an 11-day backpacking trip in Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument, Utah back during Thanksgiving break. The weather went from warm and sunny to many types of inclement weather possible. It rained, hailed, sleeted, and snowed -- sometimes all in one day!
For those that didn't have bivy sacks, a tarp was the only form of protection from the elements. I was one of the people on the trip that did not have a bivy. The bag kept me, and any dry belongings I decided to sleep with, warm and dry. It kept any wet items (from river crossings) that I stuffed inside stuff sacks at the base of my bag from freezing.
On the first night that it rained, my group found out the hard way that our tarp had leaks. No bother! I stayed warm and the bag dried out in the sun the next day. Sometimes I would wake up in the morning to find out snow had snuck onto the tail end of my bag. No bother! My feet were warm and toasty, and my bag was hardly even wet on the inside.
Freezing temps were common during my stay in Utah. This bag did a wonderful job at keeping warm. Some nights I actually had to strip down to a tank top, one lightweight fleece sweater, fleece pants, and a wool beanie. My other layers ended up as pillows. I could hardly believe it.
I later found out that, including wind-chill factor, one of my nights got cold as -17 degrees. That was news to me. I didn't even realize it was that cold. The neck area of my bag adjusted 4 different ways so it was easy to keep the heat in and the wind out.
My only complaint about the bag is the zipper. The thing would get stuck every other time I wanted in or out! Most times it wasn't so bad; it was just a minor annoyance. I had already zipped or unzipped the bag to nearly its desired area. Other times I would really have to pee in middle of the night and have to slide the bag off of me to get out.
Overall, I say this bag is a keeper! I tend to toss and turn in my sleep. The extra shoulder room and velcro near the neck kept me secure and comfortable in my bag. The zippered pocket on the outside of the bag was nice for keeping goodies like my headlamp and lip balm (don't worry, the desert wasn't bear country!) nearby. The compression bag got it down to my sleeping bag and liner down to something just a bit larger than a bowling ball. And if you didn't gather from above, it kept me and my belongings warm!
