Comments about The North Face Docking Station Tent:
Please do not waste your time if you are going to camp anywhere other than your backyard and you live in sunny San Diego. I purchased all the extras for this tent for my family as a base camp. I set it up and it was not worth my time. If it rains the floor will get wet even with the foot print and the mesh tent attachment. The 4 person and 2 person docking stations do not have foot prints. The tent does not have a solid rain fly for the main tent. If the rain does not fall straight down you will get wet. If the wind blows and it rains, with the 2 person or 4 person docking stations you will get wet. The docking stations clip into the main tent. A better idea would be to have the stations zip into the main tent instead of clip. When you are in the main tent and need to get to the 4 person or 2 person stations, there is a large gap on the floor that exposes the dirt below. If it rains it will be a muddy mess. I feel this product needed to be field tested before putting on the market.

Comments about The North Face Docking Station Tent:
We are a family of 5 w/ all 3 children under 10. We love to be outdoors, and so our tent must be considered as part of the family. With our kids getting bigger this year we decided to "upgrade" to privacy of the 3 "bedrooms".
DON'T BOTHER! The leaking seams at the "dock points" make this tent a disaster!

Comments about The North Face Docking Station Tent:
I really tried to like this tent as it had a lot of things going for it on paper. I purchased the docking station, the 2 and 4 person additions and the mesh insert. My plan was to use the main part of the tent as a common area and then have the sleeping off to the sides. With this set up I wanted an open feel that had no doors between the sleeping areas and the main tent. The main problem with this tent is the mesh insert does not connect to the main tent via anything other than hooks. What you end up with is an opening between the mesh insert and the sleeping stations that allows bugs to enter. Also because the two floors do not connect, the ground is exposed between the two parts (muddy bottom if it rains). Finally, if there is heavy rain you can get rain inside the tent via the openings between the sleeping area and the main tent. There are many changes that NF could have done with this tent if they would have field tested their product. In the end it was a great concept on paper, but had to be returned because NF did not complete their product.

Comments about The North Face Docking Station Tent:
I'll start off with what I liked about this tent. It is huge, easy to set up, and the construction is what I have come to expect from The North Face. I bought this with the intention of using the 2 and 4 person docks for sleeping areas and the docking station as a giant vestibule. The problem is that right at ground level there is a coffee mug sized gap between the docks and the station that would very likely lead to leakage into the sleeping areas with any kind of rain. The problem could easily be corrected by extending the flap used for "docking" so the gap is eliminated. I think that this tent could be great with some very minor tweaks, but untill then I need to find something else. I do think this could be excellent in the SW or anywhere there is a rain shadow effect and watertightness is not the biggest concern.

Comments about The North Face Docking Station Tent:
My family bought the Docking Station with two 2 person pods and one 4 person pod. We are a big family of avid adventure seekers. So each of my sons has his own pod and we get the big one. We love this tent! It is so versitile. We can set up just the main room on the beach or in camp and fit a table for 4 in the center. We have not experienced any of the rain issues other reviewers have ranted about. On the contrary, we weathered several days of wind driven rain and never got wet at all. We did not do anything to rainproof the tent other than set it up as designed. It is simple to set up and makes sense. While there are gaps between the pods and the main room these are not designed to be rain proof, only to shed rainwater, which they do. We prefer to run the main room without a floor, but we have the footprint and mesh room. In the end the main room should be looked at as a huge vestibule to change tyour clothes standing up, play cards in the rain with the crew, or to store bikes and gear low profile when away from camp. Very cool tent. Great experience with it everytime.
