The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Venus 70 Pack - Women's:
I've been on a few backpacking trips in Yosemite and in the San Gabriel Mountains and it has held up great! We got some unexpected rain one morning in Yosemite and it held up pretty well even without a rain cover. This was my first pack and so far I wouldn't want any other one.

Loved the space and comfort of the pack. Did a 5 day backpacking trip in Yosemite with lots of elevation change and no hip or shoulder rub marks/bruises.

Comments about REI Venus 70 Pack - Women's:
I used the pack, first time, at Dinkey Lakes on my 2nd backpacking trip. I'm 5'4", 61 yrs. old, and under 100 lbs. As usual, walking 4 miles uphill starting at 6500 ft. wearing any kind of pack was very hard work. The pack wasn't adjusted quite right -- not high enough on my back to keep the well-padded belt from rubbing on my pelvic bones in front. Otherwise, it worked great. I can't fault the pack as much as myself for not remembering to fiddle with the main velcro adjuster before we left for home on the 4th day. I'd better do that right now before I forget!

Comments about REI Venus 70 Pack - Women's:
I rented this backpack for 3 years and then bought it on sale. It's an excellent pack and reasonably priced. You can usually find it at the garage sales as well. The only con is that I'm not a fan of the straps at the base as they are hard to tighten (around my sleeping bag) — I don't have experience with other packs so I don't know if there are better options. All in all, it's a great pack for an easy price. Perfect for the every-so-often-backpacker.

Comments about REI Venus 70 Pack - Women's:
I borrowed this pack from my daughter for a hike on Timberline Trail on Mt Hood. The terrain was difficult for me, and we also had several river and glacier crossings, plus one rope climb up a steep river embankment. By the end of Day 2, I was tired but not one area of my upper body ached. I was surprised that my back, shoulders and neck felt like I never hiked an inch. Amazing pack!

Comments about REI Venus 70 Pack - Women's:
I got this for my wife to go on our nonprofit's excursions and have to say, overall, a great pack. The only downside is that I did not know her torso length and based the pack off her hip measurment. She is tiny but has a long torso, so just make sure and try it on in store if you're able to get the right torso adjustment!

Comments about REI Venus 70 Pack - Women's:
I am an avid outdoors woman, spending...on average...two and a half weeks per month from May-Oct sleeping in the backcountry. I own an Osprey Xenos 85 (I need to carry considerable gear) and a Gregory Deva which I use for daytrips or quick overnights. My Osprey is failing and after a miserable 5 day pleasure backpack with the metal stays digging in my hips and backside (requiring me to hike with my hands under the bottom of the pack to relieve the pressure) I decided I had had enough and drove straght to REI looking for another pack. I stumbled upon the Venus and after the empty, heavy weight of the Osprey and Gregory the Venus felt light as a feather! I bought the pack, loaded it up with my gear in the car and headed out for a summit bid on Mt Adams...we both made it, I am happy to report. This pack carried all of my gear without so much as a squeak. It had pouches in places where I had long wished my other packs had, I am however, still getting used to the clips and zippers. I thought the nail polish idea a previous reviewer gave is brillant! The pack is light and airy and a pleasure to carry. I would recommend this pack to anyone who must carry an above average load.

Comments about REI Venus 70 Pack - Women's:
I went on a backpacking trip in Alaska and this pack held everything. It was heavy due to all my gear, but the pack itself is light. It can hold A LOT. It took some getting used to, but once you get all the straps how you want them and get used to the feel, it is great. This pack was well designed with the top and front opening. Have fun adventuring! The only way for it to get more perfect is for it to have even better padding.

Comments about REI Venus 70 Pack - Women's:
I'm a smaller person (5'2") so this pack was a little too big for me. The front pouch throws the weight off in a funny way, so I didn't use it most of the time. It is nice that you can access the inside from the top and the front flap. Even for a RTW trip, I think this bag just has too much space. I think the Ridgeline is a better choice for someone of my size.

Comments about REI Venus 70 Pack - Women's:
It isn't the lightest pack out there, but it's comfortable and sturdy. I wore this for five months of extended backpacking trips for my job in the Sierra Nevadas and it held up wonderfully. I'm a fairly small woman (5'3", 125 lbs) and was carrying a lot of weight, and this pack fit perfectly. My only wish had been for a zippered compartment on the bottom for easy access.
