Comments about Marin Hamilton 29er Bike - 2010:
I love this bike! I spent a great deal of time looking for a no-nonsense, tough, versatile bike that was reasonably priced. I compared this to Tr&k's Soho, $pecialized Globe and others. Not only the cheapest, this bike has the mountain style frame I was looking for, coupled with 29's. First ride: If you're not sure about having only one cog, forget that. This bike is effortless. Accelerates quicker than you'd expect. The only time you'll wish for another gear is when your at top speed on the flats. Still, estimated top speed is about 20 mph, which is fine for me. The bike is fairly light, but no energy is lost through a derailleur so it feels lighter than it is. My only complaint is that it's not equipped with disc brakes like the cousin model, Muirwoods. But c'mon, the bike only costs [$]! I may go fixie anyways, and take them off, who knows. I'd buy this bike again, especially at this price, from one of my all time favorite retailers. [...]

Comments about Marin Hamilton 29er Bike - 2010:
Bike is a great deal, but steering column is higher than in the photo, and was shown in a cut down position for cosmetic reasons by Marin (I was given the phone number by REI to call; I called Marin about the photo discrepancy). I was surprised how high the column was actually. I was told that it is for more height options, but I would not want a narrow tube in that area pointing up if i cracked up. It seems that Marin used one size fits all for its fork and handle bar size. At the 17 inch, they seem big. Also the bike is set at a higher gear. For casual riding, it might be too high. With so much complaining, why don't I return it. I have had it only for a couple of days, with one ride in, but overall the bike seems to be a great buy for the money. Just buyer beware...
