The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Classic Duffel Bag - X Large:
I use this Duffel for my travels throughout the Pacific Northwest. It holds a lot of stuff and is very easy to carry. Thus far, it has proven durable. There is a smaller bag included that holds a surprising amount of stuff. The price was completely reasonable.

Comments about REI Classic Duffel Bag - X Large:
The bag ripped open on the first flight. I only had 35 pounds in it. I was changing planes in a Mexican airport when I saw it come off the baggage carousel ripped open. Luckily I remembered that in Mexico you can get your luggage wrapped with plastic. This saved the day, and when I arrived at my destination I found a seamstress to repair the bag. I've had a half-dozen of these bags over five years. In past years they seemed heavier. This one seems flimsy.

Comments about REI Classic Duffel Bag - X Large:
Bought two of these bags to carry donated medical supplies to rural Tanzania this past month. They both went through hell getting thrown on and off planes, busses, shuttles, cars, and being drug through the dirt all over northeastern Tanzania. I stuffed them to their ultimate capacity, and while it was a bit annoying that they are very long but not very girthy, they still were perfect for what I needed them to do. The bags held up like champs and are still in nearly excellent condition after a good old fashioned beating. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs an inexpensive, yet incredibly robust bag for hauling stuff around.

Comments about REI Classic Duffel Bag - X Large:
After ordering and receiving a roller bag that I thought would fit my needs, I had to send it back. I was heading to Cabo for a week with inflatable kayaks and needed a bag to fit our kayak backbones, 4 piece paddles, PFDs, and accessories. This bag was perfect and inexpensive for the job. I would agree with another reviewer that the shoulder strap was useful, but if fully loaded, it could be painful to carry.

Comments about REI Classic Duffel Bag - X Large:
I had two major questions of this bag when I bought it. 1) Would it hold up under the abuse of international travel, and 2) would the zipper withstand the strain of tight packing. After 3 months of being thrown around and stuffed with all manner of things, the bag is in great shape. The XL is the largest bag allowed by most international carriers (the XXL is too big) and the zipper held up nicely when packed to 23 kilos. I was pleased that even in an Ethiopian rainstorm (on top of a Land Cruiser) the bag kept my clothes and equipment dry. The one suggestion- don't think that you can fill it up and carry it over shoulder with the included strap. The strap and buckles will withstand the strain, but your shoulder and back will not.
