good price competitive duffle bag. Used large for Kilimanjaro but wish i had bought extra large. Porters carried it while on hike and no problems. not waterproof but they put inside waterproof bag.Very satisfied but buy EL for Kili trip.

This bag is GREAT! I bought this bag for wildland firefighting to use as a 14 day gear bag. It has plenty of room for a sleeping bag, pad, tent, 14 days of clothes. As well the bag that it comes in works great as a toiletries bag. The bag seems to be very durable and has a great zipper on it. This bag would be ideal for anyone who needs a big duffle for traveling, work, or even sports equipment. Great job REI!!

I bought this for the AIDS/Lifecycle, a 7-day bike ride from SF to LA. The duffel was transported by truck to each campsite we stayed at. The second year I did the ride, the zipper gave out. That means it was used a total of about 10 days before it failed.
I ended up having to safety-pin the duffel closed and then wrap in tape so I could get the thing on the airplane.
The duffel might fair better for others, but I think I'll replace it with something with a stronger zipper.

At the beginning of the summer I drove to Juneau, AK from Denver, CO. I was able to fit all of my clothes and jackets in this duffel.
This duffel is very simple, but you can carry a lot of stuff in it. So if you just need a simple way to carry your gear this is the most affordable way to go.
As a bonus, the duffel comes with a small storage sack that you can keep your small items in when not in use.

We use this duffel for our long vacations when we know we will pick up some souvenirs. It is small enough to stick in your luggage that we do not need to check an extra bag (and pay extra fees).
The duffel seems pretty sturdy and the zippers worked great. It was also easy to fold the duffel back up once we got home and store in it's bag.
