The REI Lightweight Polartec® Power Dry® Zip-T can be worn alone or used as a performance insulating layer.
- Polartec Power Dry utilizes 2 different yarns on either side of the fabric to enhance comfort: interior yarn wicks moisture, and exterior yarn dries quickly
- The combination of the 2 yarns helps keep you dry during highly aerobic activities because it moves moisture away from skin faster than single-component fabrics such as cotton
- Center front zipper allows ventilation control
- Flatseam construction is soft and non-chafing next to skin, and seams are designed to work with pack straps at shoulders
- Underarm and side gussets promote freedom of motion
- Dropped back hem stays tucked in
- Next-to-skin fit hugs the body, maintaining skin contact to boost fabric performance

This new product - billed as "upgraded" is different and a big DISSAPOINTMENT! I LOVED the old version -- REI Lightweight MTS Long-Sleeve Zip-T. This new product has longer sleeves, a shorter zipper, not as good fit (boxy), and a stiff, uncomfortable fabric. Maybe it wicks well -- but the prior version was fantastic for performance - so I don't see a difference. Please BRING BACK THE OLD FAVORITE that had fantastic reviews by all...I am crushed that I can't buy one or two REI Lightweight MTS Long-Sleeve Zip-Ts this year!!!

The new material is AWFUL. The thing I LOVED the most about the prior version was the UPF rating: I could run or cycle for 3 or 4 hours in the heat of summer with no sunscreen under my white MTS lightweight long-sleeve. No burn AND no overheating. This new version is HORRIBLE. TWO THUMBS DOWN.

the new model is inferior in every way. i returned the new model
please bring back the old model.
just returned from a bike trip to france and had everyone on the bike trip was inquiring where to get the sunblock layer . ...discontinued

Why, why why do they always discontinue great things? I lived in my REI lightweight long underwear and it is such a disappointment that they changed it to an inferior product. I hate the new materials- they are uncomfortable and not at all like the old ones which felt like a second skin.

I am so dissappointed that REI has discontinued making my favorite item! I have two of the old version and completely agree with all the negative comments. Was going to buy several more with SPF, great fit and feel. Please bring back the great base layer that we all love!!

I agree with the other two users. I HATE this new version. The old one has a nice long zipper for better temperature control and taking on and off, and the fabric is really soft.
This one is very scratchy and the zipper is way too short.

PLEASE bring back the old version...I have 3 in every color and they are awesome for fit and performance. This new version is NOT an improvement. It is stiff, boxy and a very poor fit. The old version was perfect to wear both on it's own or as an underlayer. My wonderful old versions are starting to wear out after 3 years constant use and washing, and I am holding out with my fingers crossed that REI listens to customer feedback and brings back the old awesome version -- if so, I will buy more in every color available!! PLEASE...

This product is nothing like the original that it replaces, it is different in every way and inferior. The zipper is too short, the collar too high, has a boxey fit and the fabric is uncomfortable and clings to other shirts when layering. I absolutely loved and lived in the older version which is now discontinued. PLEASE REI, bring back the old version, it was perfect and the fabric so soft.

I use this as a base layer when hiking, tide-pooling in cool weather. Functionally, it's great, but it snags really easily (and I'm very careful both when wearing and laundering). If I have to peel off layers, the shirt in white is very thin and thus very revealing of underwear (or lack of same).

This whole line of light and midweight Polartec undies is the greatest thing since I-don't-know-what. Bought every color I could find in my size and have been wearing them under bike jerseys since the weather turned sorta ugly. And if you have to make a roadside clothing adjustment when things warm up a bit, they roll up into a tiny wad for one's back jersey pocket. Great stuff.
