Rated5out of5byCapt CWfromGreatUp front, I'm a boxers guy. And I usually wear REI boxers. But there are times that wearing briefs is a must. Like when you have to put on and take off a wet suit in mixed company. These are by far the best briefs I've ever found. They don't ride up or rub. And repeated/prolonged exposure to saltwater doesn't seem to damage the material or elastic over time--if you are one of the 5% of people reading this that might apply to.

Rated2out of5byHappyGuyfromOK but previous versions betterThese briefs are OK but not nearly as good as the previous versions of REI MTS briefs from several years ago, which are softer, more comfortable and give better support. The material feels too thin; the wasteband is too tight, but the rest is too loose. I always wear the older MTS ones that I have until I run out and only have the newer ones left. REI should really pay attention to the lousy feedback these get and replace them with something more like what they used to offer.

Rated1out of5byunojofromIf you have NO butt and a small *bleep*The cons across the board are very accurate. REI needs to make serious upgrades. Flat front no pocket, poor cut. The only thing they have on Exofficio is they wash and dry much better. But neither are great in my experience. Buy any general mesh quick dry underwear.

Rated2out of5byopenearfromRide up, run smallI normally get exofficio briefs but for a couple bucks less, tried these. Within seconds it was clear they were a mistake. They run small and ride up like crazy. I'd rather go commando

Rated2out of5bykaputabofromComfortable, but they ride upThese are comfortable, but they tend to ride up all the time. I have always used ExOfficio Give-N-Go Briefs, but decided to try these because they looked very comfortable and were 2 dollars cheaper. Since I have always trusted REI branded clothing, I didn't suspect that this one would be anything but a winner.
But it turned out to be a bad decision. Forget hiking and sports, I can't even wear them to office without the constant riding up that happens. It make me very uncomfortable the whole time I am wearing it. The material is comfortable, that's the only good thing I can say. But I highly recommend against buying it. Go with the ExOfficio.

Rated2out of5bycharliepolecatfromSlow dryingComfortable enough, except the too thick waste band. Dryes out well in a dry environment such as the Sierras, but it does not dry out overnight in a hotel room or damp environment.

Rated2out of5byCAJ - hikerfromPlease bring back old fabricI agree with the comment about riding up. The old fabric was great and I wish I had bought several more. The new fabric will not stay out of places you don't want it. Unfortunately, the two pair I bought wound up in the donation pile. I'm a big REI fan but these were not a hit…
