          I use these for hiking and snowboarding, they work great at keeping my warm and dry at the same time. They are alittle big, I'm 5'8" with a 32 waist and the mediums have more room than I would like. But the smalls.....are too small ironiclly.

              Good lightweight base layer. Sized perfectly--not tights but not a lot of extra fabric either. Fits well under pants.

              These are the perfect weight for cold-weather bus/train commutes--warm enough under pants to make waiting at outside stops comfortable; light enough to stay on in the office. Also works well under pants for cold-weather hiking or other moderate outdoor activity.

                Even after reading so negative reviews about this product I decided to give it a try and order the REI Lightweight MTS Polartec Power Dry Bottoms to match the REI Lightweight Polartec Power Dry Long-Sleeve Crew neck T (in size L) and the MTS Zip-T (in size L-TALL).

                I was not surprised to see that the proportions are well and it fits perfect. I have other other REI base layers and they all fit well.

                I tested it with the crew neck on a backpacking trip and it keeps a close fit and works flawless for layering.

                I spent two nights on the mountain under the stars wearing only these two for the hike and to sleep in while the temps reached the 27 degrees.

                I'm very happy and please with this product and I'm ordering three more sets of them.

                        They are warm enough to take the bite off the cold when i walk the dog in the morning (under dress pants), and not too warm that they need to be removed before going indoors. They are as advertised 'light weight' so if you plan on being outdoors in very cold weather for extended periods of time you should probably get something heavier. They have held up well in the 2 months i have owned them.

                          I bought these t wear casually and also under workwear as a cycling commuter. I've had similar name-brand products (same polartec fabric) that I paid roughly $10 more for than the full suggested retail of this product. The name-brand items fit snuggly, actually close to my skin, and they're much more comfortable this way. I am thin, but I am also an athelete, so I have a good bit of leg mass at the calf and at the upper leg, so it's surprising that these fit so loose. I plan to return these. Steer clear if you want a close-fitting lightweight base layer but don't have massive legs from your hips down to your ankles.
