Comments about Mountain Hardwear Nima Pants - Men's Regular:
I used this pants in the snow covered back country at altitude for several days (during melt-off). They performed perfectly.
I was surprised at how well the built-in gaiters worked. I had no snow in the boot after much post-holing.
The side vents are awesome. If you start to warm up, just unzip and get some extra air-flow.
They say they are not waterproof but they shed water very well. I made a couple of test glissades of 100'+ semi-solid snow and didn't get wet. I don't know how they would perform in slushier snow.
I have a 30" inseam and 32 waist. These pants fit fine wearing mid-weight base layer bottoms.
The range of motion in these pants is phenomenal and shouldn't interfere with climbing endeavors.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Nima Pants - Men's Regular:
Just got these with my REI dividend. I intended to use them for hiking and backcountry skiing in decent weather. I got the chance to try them out when my wife and I hiked in St George over the weekend in a moderate rain/sleet storm. The DWR held out for about 1 hour before the water came in at two locations. First was on the quads where the constant rubbing of the material allowed water through. The second location was around the butt where my jacket was rubbing. I never got completely soaked (4.5 hrs of hiking in constant rain) and although the temperature was around 35 degrees the pants kept me warm enough. A real bonus was the integrated gators which kept the ever present mud out of my boots (my wife was less fortunate as her pants did not have the gators). The next day we hiked in 65+ degree weather (sunny). The heat was manageable with the side vents open, but I wouldn't want to hike in the desert sun in black pants if the temperature was any hotter (I should note that my wife and I were keeping an aggressive pace. A more leisurely pace would allow wearing them in higher temps. The material had a great feel and overall the quality was there.
Since these are my first DWR pants, I don't know how long the DWR should keep the water out (i realize they are not waterproof). Overall I was happy with the pants and look forward to wearing them for spring/fall hiking and winter snowshoeing and back country skiing.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Nima Pants - Men's Regular:
A lot of what Mountain Hardwear makes appeals to me on a functional level. I own a lot of MH gear and of late I've found poor quality control in some of the gear I've purchased or tried on. My latest disappointment came with the size of these pants. I tried on two pair, both marked mens small/short and found one was a full inch longer than the other yet marked the same. I also found that the 'articulated knee' didn't articulate and seemed to bind when I similated a high step. A (taller)friend who was with me, tried a different pair on and found the same thing. Hmmm. I suppose I'll keep looking.
