The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Lumen +25 Sleeping Bag - Youth:
I really like this sleeping bag. It's super hard to find a bag that actually fits me. I'm 5'4" 113, and even the womens regular bags are too long for me. This means dead space at the foot of the bag and also that I'm carrying around needless bulk. I think someone an inch, MAYBE two inches taller than me could use this (2 might be pushing it). This is really good quality for the price, especially compared to womens' bags, at least IMO. It packs pretty small, at least for the type of bag it is (regular 25+ womens bags didn't stuff down as small as this one), and the stuff sack provided is actually substantially larger than needed--I can fit my insulated exped sleeping pad (inflatable, 64 inches long) in it easily. I'm curious as to how small you could get it with a true compression sack. I haven't slept in 25 degree weather yet, but used it one night in the low to mid 30's (on top of a bouldering pad in a van with the windows open) and was very nice and warm. I generally sleep cold, too. I've also used it in Moab (cool desert nights) and was happy with it (on top of my sleeping pad). I like the fabric they put near the zipper--I haven't gotten it snagged yet. I wouldn't call this "roomy", at least given my size, but I almost prefer this as I feel like I'll stay warmer. Last but not least, I love the price for the quality, and obviously the guarantee (don't forsee any problems, though). This bag fits better, packs smaller, and meets all of my needs and yet is at least half the price of the adult bags I had been looking at. Hooray!

My 13 year old son an I do a fair amount of backpacking. This year we have a 50 miler coming up and he needed a light bag with a cold weather rating that will help in the Sierras during fall.

Comments about REI Lumen +25 Sleeping Bag - Youth:
Used this bag for my son for the first time. Got this to replace an older bag so that it would fit into his small bag. He's 8. Our first night was much colder than we expected and was in the high 20s. I was cold in my 25 degree bag but he was pretty good in this one.
So it packs pretty small and kept him comfortable in 25-30 degree weather.

Comments about REI Lumen +25 Sleeping Bag - Youth:
I find it amazing that someone else (who lives in Dallas) rated this great bag because it got cold (40 deg.) on a trip to Colorado. No way of knowing if that person had adequate gear, clothes, sleeping pad, etc, or even what the weather was. Were they cold-soaked? That's like buying a bike and saying you rode it in Colorado, but it didn't work like it should. Way too little information.
Bought this bag for my son who is 9 years old and he's already been backpacking with me at 6 years old in Mt. Lassen Nat'l Forest at 7,500 feet as well as Colorado, Utah, and last summer in the Chugach Nat'l Forest near Anchorage, Alaska. He did fine. I was sure to pack him appropriate gear and clothes, but he never complained.
Bottom line: great bag for the price. I have the adult version. Love it.

I bought this bag for my son two years ago for backpacking and boy scouts. It has served him well so far. He has stayed warm in mid 30 degree temps. Construction seems good. For a synthetic bag it packs down pretty small. A good bag for the price.
Comments about REI Lumen +25 Sleeping Bag - Youth:
I am a woman 5'2" and I weight about 110 lbs. I bought this bag because I thought I would get a great deal money wise as I am small and perfectly fit in the bag. I went camping to the South Rio Grande National Forrest in Colorado where the lower temperatures reached about 40deg F. I froze! If you are a person that gets cold easily I do not recommend buying this bag. Spend the money and invest on something with lower temperature ratings. I will hopefully exchange my bag for a +10 or +15 degF bag.
