    • With a European Norm (EN) lower-limit rating of 27°F, this bag is suitable for 3-season use
    • Synthetic Thermawave polyester insulation is durable and highly compressible; synthetic polyester fill retains some insulating properties even when wet
    • Shingle construction with overlapping layers distributes insulation evenly and keeps it from moving around so there are no cold spots
    • Equally distributed insulation accommodates the multi-position sleeper; mummy shape is thermally efficient, yet roomy enough to ensure sleeping comfort
    • Ripstop nylon shell fabric has a nice hand feel, is lightweight, durable, water- and abrasion resistant; nylon taffeta lining is soft and tear-resistant
    • Relaxed fit through the shoulders and hips gives you room to move for a better night's rest
    • Contoured hood, insulated full-face muffler, roomy footbox and full-length zipper draft tube with ground-level seams work together to keep heat in and cold out
    • External chest pocket keeps small essentials—headlamp, watch, glasses—right at hand and easy to find in the dark
    • Special pocket in hood can be stuffed with clothing layers to make a pillow that stays in place; no need for a pillow to take up valuable space in your backpack
    • Pad loops provide attachment points to keep your sleeping bag and pad together, so you needn't worry about rolling onto the cold ground (straps sold separately)
    • Full length zipper is backed by wide, antisnag binding tape
    • Differentiated drawcords (1 round, 1 flat) allow quick identification, even in the dark, so neck and hood adjustments are a cinch
    • Nylon stuff sack and cotton storage bag included
    • European Norm (EN) is an independent third-party temperature rating, allowing accurate comparisons across brands with other EN-rated bags

REI Lumen Sleeping Bag is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm in very cold weather I recently used this bag in the Eastern Sierras while backpacking. The first two nights were 11 and 17 degrees, respectively. The Lumen kept me warm all night, although I was wearing one layer of clothes, including wool socks. The bag was a little shorter than expected. I'm 5'8" and I not sure if this bag would have been comfortable had I been and inch or two taller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my life This bag as been with me all over the Rockies and on occasions saved me from a bad day or two. It's warm and packs very small. The material is very water repellant and dries quickly, on one backpacking trip I had tent issues and had to sleep without cover in the rain. The bag was all i had and kept me dry and warm through the night. thanks REI for a great bag

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, Comfortable, Compactable I go camping a few times a year, but wouldn't say I'm a huge camper/backpacker. I talked to a staff member in the store and mentioned that I was looking for a bag in this price range that was warm and fairly durable. I mentioned that I'd be going into some national parks in September and would occasionally do a late fall overnight trip in upstate New York. I also mentioned that I had a bad habit of going on camping trips when it would rain. I used the bag for ten days in September and didn't have any problems with it. Temperatures dropped into the 30's at night and I still felt comfortably. I will admit that I was wearing a base layer and a sweatshirt as well, so that may have contributed to my warmth. That being said, I was happy with the bag on the colder nights. There were a few nights where some condensation would get inside the rain fly of our tent and drip down on the bag. I'm happy to say that the bag dried out rather quickly, which was a definite plus. This product comes with a compression bag, which was helpful for a few of the nights I went backpacking. Also, with regards to sizing, I'm 6'0, 205 lbs and found that this was roomy enough for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lite weight, compact Can be compacted into a small space. There is a nice place in the hood for a compact pillow. There is plenty of room for the legs to move around. Not just for car camping as it is lite weight. I went with the long version which is suitable for someone up to 6 ft 6 in. I am 6 ft tall. Someone who is closer to 6 ft 6 in may want to make sure that there is plenty of room for the legs to move if desired.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag in allot of scenarios I have used this bag is all seasons including winter (except for snow shelter camping). It packs down small, is really lite weight, and doesn't feel too confining like most mummy bags do. The price point is great and the materials and construction are study so I expect this bag to last me quite a while.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bag. Losing Retention @ Year 3 First real bag I've owned. First REI purchase. Satisfied with the product but after living in a tent for 2 years, the fella has lost heat retention or I am a wimp, or both... Used the bag nightly as I nomadically traveled from house to house (or backyard to backyard) in Austin during college. Served me well. Approximately 450 nights of warmth, but it's far from a 25 degree bag nowadays. Still looks clean on the outside, but inside it is full of death. (Matthew 23:27) I'll keep the Lumen around for the summer, but my eyes are fixed on the REI Igneo for a warmer option. Perhaps the front load washer only warning wasn't a bluff?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Sleeping Bag I bought a youth version for my son and adult long for myself, 6'2" @ 160 lbs, to use during cub scout camping trips. I chose this model as they are very well made and have features like small zipper pocket just outside hood for flashlight or whatever, pillow pocket to hold camping sized pillow in place, and was rather light and compact for the temperature rating of 25degF. After laying in a lot of them this one had the most room in the shoulder and knee area for me. Our first trip got down to upper 40s and with pajamas on we were more than comfortable. I actually got hot and my son slept with arms out most of the night. I am normally a cold sleeper. It rained one night and our tent leaked a little but the water mostly beaded on top of the sleeping bags rather than soaking in which was a nice surprise. I look forward to many good trips with these bags and am not hesitate to use them this weekend when it's suppose to get to 32degF.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag for everything except 25° I've used this bag for about two years now, mainly for summer backpacking trips in Vermont/Maine/Wisconsin, and it's wonderful for all of those. Fits in my pack easily, not too heavy or bulky, keeps me plenty warm on all of those nights. In fact, most summer nights I have it only partially zipped, as I'd overheat. This past week, I took it on its first colder-weather adventure, a 4 day solo trip to the Porkies in the U.P, first week of October. Night one, I was comfortable in the bag is it got down to the mid 40s, wearing a base layer. (Have a 1.5 inch sleeping pad as well). Night two, I had 25 mph winds, and it got down to mid 30s. I had to put on all the layers I had, and only woke up 'cold'. Night three, it got down to high 20s/low 30s and rain/snowed most of the evening, and with all layers on, I was definitely, definitively cold. While I love this bag, and will continue to use it, I'll definitely need something warmer for any camping in the 30s/20s again, regardless of the 25 degree rating on this bag.
