The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Kershaw Chive Knife:
This is a great knife to have with you everyday. It is very sharp, fits easily in the pocket, and has an auto opening mechanism that makes it a snap to open for single handed use. This is American craftsmanship at its finest. Of all the folding knives I own, I use this one the most, by far.

Comments about Kershaw Chive Knife:
I used this as my primary pocket knife. Quick one-hand opening, blade kept a sharp edge very well. I loved the size as it was perfect clipped on my pocket and didn't get in my way when I went looking in my pocket for keys...alas the body of the knife is smooth and there was only so much tension with the pocket clip. It would occasionally slip out of my pocket when sitting in a car for example. Finally it fell out while doing some brush clearing and is gone. Not sure if I will get another one, because I don't like losing [$]...other than the slipping problem I loved this knife.

Comments about Kershaw Chive Knife:
This knife strikes me as very dangerous. It *does* have a safety lock, so that's not the problem, but it is essentially a switchblade. I'm sure the reviews that say it provides easy one-hand use are sincere, but I returned this thing immediately. It's so small (3" when closed) that controlling it with one hand--unless you have teeny little hands--is nearly impossible. Buy this only after a careful hands-on test.

Comments about Kershaw Chive Knife:
I impulsively purchased this tiny knife after lugging a Leatherman Supertool around in my pocket for a week. Ten years later, this knife is still going strong. I'm impressed with what a durable, lightweight, and convenient tool it's turned out to be. I carry it and barely know it's there until I need to cut through stubborn product packaging, cords, tape, small branches, vegetable vines, etc. This knife wouldn't be my first choice if marooned on a desert island, but for ordinary, around-the-house use, it's saved me a lot of time and effort.
Other than a few scratches, my knife still looks pretty new and snaps open as smootly as the day I got it. Every now and then I swipe the knife with a Qtip to try to remove lint and debris. It's stayed pretty clean over the years. I can't speak to how easy it is to sharpen because I've completely ignored that facet of knife ownership.
I like that I can open, toggle the safety, and close the knife quickly and easily with one hand. Even though the handle is short, I find the knife comfortable enough to use thanks to the grooves on the spine and the finger guard, which offer a solid grip for thumb and index finger-- at least for the small, fast jobs I use it for. Finally, I've carelessly left the safety off a couple times in recent history and had the knife partially open in my pocket but that was my fault and fortunately, no real harm done (probably because the knife is a little dull). I remember that the knife was very sharp out of the box so had it been earlier or sharpened properly, that might have been a different story.
One potential design drawback is that the knife is all metal and very smooth. Definitely something to consider if you will be using it in conditions where a non-slip grip is important. It's also easy for the knife to slip out of shallow pockets when lying on couches, hammocks, etc. I'm shocked I haven't lost it--there've been some close calls. I try to remember clip it to the inside of my pocket.
This knife has turned out to be a great value and by far my favorite pocketknife over the years.

Comments about Kershaw Chive Knife:
I'm not fond of carrying spring loaded razors in my pocket, and while the Onion knives have a safety, putting the safety on and off detracts from the knife's overall convenience. However, the Chive open with a fun, satisfying snap, and its unique blade geometry and shape make it a very efficient cutting tools for its size. The blade steel isn't the best, but it's easy to sharpen and gets sharp, sharp, sharp. It won't hold a razor edge long if you're cutting things that are fibrous or hard, but the knife does fine with food and the types of light tasks you'd carry a knife this small for. Its cutting power, low impact size, and snappy mechanism convince me to carry it in my pocket, despite mild concern over it going off. Put the safety on! It's a little spendy when compared to its Gerber and CRKT counterparts, but the workmanship's good and it's fun!

Comments about Kershaw Chive Knife:
My best friend was given one of these by an ex she hated. She LOVED the knife and had it for years using it for eveything under the sun. Then she lost it and cried. I got her a new one as a "gift" (it is bad luck to gift a knife, so I had her give me a quarter for it...) for her birthday. As with the old one, the new one is always with her. It is a perfect carry and all purpose blade, though it would not be ideal for self defense due to it's small size. This small size though is also what makes it such a good carry. Even she has tight jeans on, it does not print noticably.

Comments about Kershaw Chive Knife:
I have owned one of these knives for 6 years, and will buy another one when it wears out.
The speedsafe assist never wears out. Easy to unlock blade with one hand when closing. Some knives are difficult to close, this one isn't. Unlike almost all other knives with an opening assist, this one comes with a safety. So, you can put this knife IN your pocket, and not just clip it outside, without worrying that it will accidentally open. Straight blade so it's easy to keep sharp, no serrations to screw up.
Also comes in a big brother size with partial serration.

I bought this for my female friend.
It was too small my hands, but perfect for hers.
The design looks nice enough to throw into her clutch purse.
She carries it around with her everywhere, and loves it.

Comments about Kershaw Chive Knife:
I have the chive in the rainbow finish. The knife is great! Small, fast opening, sharp. However, I barely use the knife. This is because I love the finish so much I don't want to scatch it! I do use it enough though to know its a good knife. I once accidentally brouth it fishing and fell in the river. No even a spec of rust.
