The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Maui Jim Pilot Polarized Sunglasses:
I have worn Aviators for years. Aviators offer an unobstructed, undistorted view, and provide protection from the sun and other hazards, to a large part of the face. Vision and protection are the main reason I wear Aviators. Increased comfort and vision are why they have been adapted for driving. What attracted me to Maui Jim Pilot, Aviator, Navigator, State Trooper, frames, is the semi-rimless lens. The stainless steel frame is recessed into the eyeglass rim, like no other Aviators that I have ever seen.
Maui Jim Pilots, are a single use sunglass. They are ideal to wear on a sunlit beach in the daytime. They are too dark to use at night, inside, or anywhere that you have rapidity changing brightness conditions. Only Maui Jims wearers are wealthy enough to wear something so trivial that can be used only a few hours a day in bright sunlight.
Maui Jim does not offer transitional lens. Not just on this pair but on any pair of Maui Jim eyeglasses. Maui Jim does not make a lens safe for all driving conditions. The Maui Jim lenses, even in prescription Rx, stay dark all of the time. When driving from bright sunlight into darkness, the driver wearing Maui Jim lenses is temporary blind, which reduces the time a driver has to react in an unexpected "see-and-avoid" traffic situation.
Maui Jims are Rx, which means that we can have prescription lenses made by anyone to our own specs to overcome the limitations of the Maui Jim brand. Vision insurance provides progressive lenses with photochromics, that change color for both visible, and UV light to make up for this omission.
Maui Jims Pilot can have a driving lens designed to bring to the eye, the best contrast in the varying light conditions of the day as well as blocking out dangerous and blinding glare.
With the addition of transitional properties, the Pilot is an excellent driving accessory. In driving it is important to get maximum protection from blinding glare, and only polarized lenses can do this. The polarizing makes it impossible to see sheet ice on the road, but what would they know about that on Maui. Pilots look great, feel great, and in general get the job done.
The thing with prescription frames is that they are generally rectangle and flat. Where a good set of designer glasses like all things in nature, are all curves, and wrap around. The nose pad brackets are an improvement on the traditional Aviators nose pads. Pilots open nose pad brackets, are easy to keep clean, and adjusted.
Maui Jim makes glasses that fit average size faces, only worn the way they want you to wear them. If like many of the baby boomers you like to wear your glasses further away from your eyes, you may find the skull temple guides too short. Maui Jim does not make longer temples, or customize sunglass frames for better fit.

Comments about Maui Jim Pilot Polarized Sunglasses:
Ok so this is for the guy who wrote a whole lot to misinform potential buyers of this product. Yes, maybe THIS pair of Jims isn't ideal for driving, they have new models with gradient tinting and half brown half grey tinting that would be better (wiki wiki), but transitions (NOT transitionals) lenses are NOT good for driving. Since they are activated by UV rays and car windsheilds automatically come with UV blocker, transition lenses do not change (get darker) inside of the car. Also, transition lenses do not come polarized.
There is a brand of transitions called Drivewear, but most people have complained that it is ONLY good for driving and is too dark to wear at night, making it even more trivial.
Hope this cleared up the misinformation.

I lived on Maui when Maui Jims first started out in Lahaina. I was attracted to Maui Jim Pilot, Aviator, Navigator, State Trooper, frames, by the semi-half rimless lens. The stainless steel frame is practically hidden behind the glass edge, like no other Aviators that I have seen, making the bottom frame appear rimless.

Comments about Maui Jim Pilot Polarized Sunglasses:
I was getting tired of the $10 value brand slipping off of my face so I decided to buy these. They fit great, stay in place and have stayed scratch free.
The worse I've put them through is day hiking and tossing them in my pack when not needed.
I would not wear them during long hiking excursions, mountain biking, or rafting.
