Years prior to my first 14er ascent, my wife made me read this book. I am glad she did.

In "14ers Disasters," Mr. Scott-Nash exposes the dangers of even the "easiest" of the Colorado 14ers using real-life (and death) examples, explaining the decisions that led to the disasters, what went wrong, and how to learn from it. What makes this book a truly great read, though, is the personal attachment he develops between the reader and the victims. While this book was written to educate those who follow, Mr. Scott-Nash is always reverent toward the victims.

Truly, a must-read for all aspiring mountaineers.
