Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I'm usually a 32 waist / 34 inseam. I bought a medium, 32 inseam of these, which fit well – I don't need the belt, and they're sufficiently long without the cuffs getting dirty while hiking. (The inseam seems normal; I would have expected a 32 waist to be 'small', so waists might run small.)
I tried these out on a two-day backpacking trip in the Santa Monica mountains – high 80s, medium humidity, lots of direct sun, moderately hilly dry terrain. The pants stayed comfortable and cool throughout (even when I was sweating hard), and provided good protection from scratchy brush. Zippered pockets are good for hiking.
For everyday use, the swishy sound made a little selfconscious, and the zippered back pocket was a little annoying (though I could've just left it unzipped, and I was glad to secure my pockets' contents when hiking).

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I have worn Sahara cargo pants (regular and convertible) on my travels for many years, but am disappointed that REI eliminated the zipper from the cargo pocket of the latest model. The zipper, in combination with the velcro closure, provided an added layer of security for valuables and documents. The new model has zippered back pockets, but they are not as practical for carrying documents, etc. than cargo pockets. I will stick with the older model (fortunately, they are durable), or consider Ex-Officio at a higher price if I need new travel pants with adequate security pockets.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I really like them, but don't love them. Good price point, the pockets are all in the right places and have good velco closures, nice and light and breath well, super comfy for the most part
Two product design elements though that I think would make these better pants:
1) The main/top button/snap closure on the pants has a sharp metal edge on the internal side that lies against your belly. You don't notice it when you're trying the pants on, or much if you have a t-shirt tucked in...but put on the waist strap of a backpack and it feels like you have a sharp penny or cut washer digging into your gut.
Seems like a simple fix to select a button/snap back design that has a more rounded, beveled or smoothed edge to it, or is internal to the waist band rather than exposed directly to the interior of the pants.
2) The included 1" web belt is a nice addition but a little thin. I think a 1.5" webbed belt would feel and look better, and provide more utility for other uses in the field, and a 1.5" belt would still fit through the existing belt loops.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I love these pants. They were exactly what I have been looking for in a light weight comfy travel pants. It's nice to finally have nylon cargo pant that is NOT convertible. This allows them to be worn in more situations.
I'd like to see more colors: OD, Black, gray
Only reason I gave them 4 stars is one of the pairs I have just ripped at one of the seams. Not happy with that.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I bought two pairs. They both started coming apart at the seams after being worn a few times. The fabric edges are not sealed in any way and the stitching is very close to the edge of the fabric. The lack of fabric makes them difficult to repair.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
Aside from being a bit too long for a 32" inseam, I really like these pants. They're lightweight and comfortable. You can wear them on the trail or out running errands. I only wish they came in more colors like khaki, carbon, or brown. I'd buy them all.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I bought these pants for use in my quest to summit all the 14ers in Colorado. I've used them for mountain hikes plus even a casual dinner date and they worked great. In fact, I plan to get another pair.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I've had six or seven pair of these pants. They would be ideal except each and every pair has failed at the stitching done at crotch. There is not enough material there and the thin weight thread easily is abraded and begins the crotch/butt seam failure cycle. I bought the first bunch in a lot of three and brought all three of them back for replacement. The, as always, courteous REI staff replaced all three. Unfortunately the same thing happened to the replacements sooner or later. The pants are cool enough, I don't really need the extra ventilation down there. Too bad. The search for perfect pants continues. If you buy these pants be prepared to repair them.
