Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
Very comfy, light weight and thin. A good everyday pant to wear around town. The length is deceiving...your normal size will be way too long, go a size shorter. I would much rather have a pant too long than short, and still went down to a 30"- and I'm 5'11". Wish they had more colors...

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
At first I bought a 30in waist and the stitching in the crotch rubbed against the inside of my leg so I thought they were too small, so I exchange them for 32in waist and though they fit better they still rubbed against the inside my leg causing a terrible burn. I noticed that the stitching in the crotch, which is what made me hate these pants the most, sticks up and is very rough but on the sahara convertible pants the stitching in the crotch is sewn down flat and feels much smoother (though I didn't buy the convertible pants because the zippers around the knees annoyed me). The cargo pockets are too far down the leg that if you have items in them the stuff will bang against your knees and calves, also as you climb up hill having items in the cargo pockets will weigh the pants down and cause them to rub against your legs even more, I think the cargo pockets should be moved up the thigh closer to the hips so when they have stuff in them it doesn't swing back and forth as much. Another thing I noticed is that I bought the 30in waist with the medium length inseam and the length was just fine but the 32in waist with a medium inseam was about an inch or so longer than the 30in waist and so I had to go with the short inseam length on the 32in waist. They also don't seem to be very breathable as my legs got very sweaty even after rolling up the legs and making them into shorts. Overall these pants drove me nuts and I couldn't wait to get back down the mountain so I could take them off.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
These pants are a good value for the [$]. The lightweight fabric is breathable and doesn't bind as you walk or hike. Packs into a small space and dries quickly, making it perfect for travel. Cargo pockets are big enough to hold a passport.I could do without the multiple small pockets. Also, having a zip closure for at least one cargo pocket would be nice. The belt is kind of cheap, but most pants in this price range don't even come with belts and it can be removed if you want to use something else.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
This is a quick review since I have yet to wear them in the field, but these are my first impressions about the pants.
The fit true to size on the waist. I'm a 32" and the Medium was perfect. The belt because of that is pretty much useless since I have to loosen it almost all of the way and simply the pants fit well enough without the belt. One fault regarding the belt is that the clasp on the buckle could be beefier.
Regarding leg fit, these are very loose pants. A little more so than the photo shows, so expect something a little on the baggy side. However, they are comfortable because of that, and the cargo pockets won't chafe you much. Also the inseam is true to the measurement, but it does wear like it's longer. Unless you like baggy pants, you might have to hem the legs an inch or two. It's wearable if you don't, but you'll have more tendency to have your back hem drag and wear down faster.
Lastly, a few other reviews suggest that the cargo pockets are low. I don't find this to be the case. I'm 5'9" and the pockets fall about lower-mid thigh for my legs. Mileage my vary, but I can't image someone that's buying the 30" inseam to have any real issues with the pockets.
As one of the cheapest hiking pants available, they're well worth the cost.

I wear these pants for daily use. I love how lightweight they are, and they dry quickly. They're very difficult to stain. My only complaint is they don't offer enough colors (they never have for the Sahara pants). Black, grey, dark brown, and even blue would be fantastic!

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
I use these pants every time I go into the outdoors. They are a great product except for the sizing being off.
One of the first adventures out with these pants ended with a rain storm dumping buckets of rain for 5 minutes. When the rain storm was over my cotton shirt was soaked while these pants shed the water and were still dry. I was worried about them ripping but after taking them through thick brush, climbing trees, and sliding down a hill on my rear end they still have no holes or rips. The quality of fabric and stitching is great.
The sizing is off on these pants. I wear a 32 inseam and 32 waist on most of my pants but with these I have to be a 30 inseam and a Large (36) waist. If you go by the numbers it will make you feel short and fat. Otherwise it is a great product.

REI has done it again. These pants meet all my needs; extended travel (great for packing, cleaning, comfort, etc), hiking in all climates, or just a casual day at the park, beach, mountains, etc. The Sahara Cargo Pants are now my pants of choice, try them and you will never go back to whatever you wear. I have 4 pair and never leave home without them. Keep up the good work REI

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
Bought these for travel. Washed them according to the label instructions and dried on low heat with anti-static sheet in dryer. Pulled them before 100 percent dry yet the static cling was so bad they stuck to my legs like tights. I could take them off and hold them 4 to 6 inches away from my legs and the pant legs would draw toward me as the hair on my legs stood on end. These are going back tomorrow.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
This is one of the three pairs of pants I chose for my 14 month long travels. So far they have not faired so well. The primary issue is the stitching in the crotch, which I have now had re-stitched twice by local seamstresses (by hand) since the original machine seams became undone after one hike that involved some scrambling and butt-sliding. Otherwise the pants are comfortable and I really like using them.
