The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Tri-Stake Tent Stake:
I bought 12 of these for a new tent, and after only one trip 3 of them are done for. And this was not in an area with very hard ground. They did hold well on some days with strong wind, but the tops are mangled. The cross section looks identical to the MSR "ground hog" pegs but evidently they're made of different stuff. The MSR pegs have survived a long trip in Grand Canyon with ground that resembles concrete.
Another problem is that when driven in a grassy area these will disappear. The red color and pull loop make the MSR pegs easy to find.
Don't spend big bucks on a tent only to compromise it with poor pegs. Pass these by.

Comments about REI Tri-Stake Tent Stake:
These stakes are great! They don't bend thanks to the triangle shape(I usually am pounding these things in with rocks), are lightweight, and you really can't beat the price.
I've also found that thanks to the way they are designed with a downward facing hook on top they are really easy to pull out by pulling with a string or hooking it with another stake.
They don't work well in sand or snow, but I usually just use sticks in those cases.

Comments about REI Tri-Stake Tent Stake:
These things are pretty solid and I was even able to drive them into the frozen ground just by stepping on them. I did manage to slightly bend one of them, but that was because I just pressed down on it with my foot rather than pounding it into the ground. The others were able to go into the frozen ground with no trouble.
I'm not sure if they're quite as high quality as MSR Groundhogs, but they're also not as expensive and if I brought the bent stake into REI, I know they would replace it. These are vastly superior to traditional tent stakes and are also very inexpensive. I highly recommend them.

Comments about REI Tri-Stake Tent Stake:
This stake, IMHO, is just as good as the MSR ground hog. It lacks the red anodized surface, pull cord, but it's 30% lighter and only 7% shorter. I tried my hardest and could not bend or break it with my hands or my foot. The shape and design are identical to the MSR. Finally, it's half the price of the MSR.
