I took this jacket on a trip to Paris and Florence and it worked out great. I did a bike tour of Paris and is started to pour rain in the middle of it - I was wearing this jacket and I was the only dry person on the tour! It kept me warm and dry, and it's really quite stylish. I love wearing it!

I don't generally review products, but I love this jacket/coat. I bought it recently before a trip to Europe and it was just the right thing. Normally I don't like "trench coats" but for some reason this doesn't look "trenchy". It's dressier than a typical rain jacket, as well.
The sleeves are nice and long, the material is smooth and comfortable. Unlike some other raincoats I've owned, the belt is secured by 4 loops, not just 2, so I was never in danger of losing it. During the trip I kept discovering new things about the coat and thought "well done, REI!"
Sorry, but I can't think of anything negative to say about it.

I bought this jacket for the NW la nina winter--[...] It keeps me dry and dries off quickly once inside. It is not form fitting but is actually quite flattering when zipped and cinched at the waist. I bought this jacket because the longer length will go with jeans and sneakers or with day dresses. Looks longer on me than the model--I am 5'4.

Bought this jacket for a 10 day France-Spain tour in late March thru early April. Was great for temps from 40F to 70F. Good for wind, rain, and chilly. We were sometimes out from 9am to 10pm so the weather would go from cool to warm to cool. It is light enough to tie around waist if weather gets warm. I buttoned up and tied the belt when it was cold. I didn't need to carry an umbrella since this coat and hood kept me dry. I am 5'3" and liked the mid-thigh length. I had to hem the sleeves. The style is flattering. If weather gets cooler than 40-ish wear a fleece underneath. Love the red color.

Simply put, I love, love, LOVE this jacket. I'd been looking for a functional but attractive rain coat ever since I moved to Seattle 3 years ago, and finally REI comes through. I usually wear a S or the occasional XS for REI clothing, and the S fit perfectly, providing some excellent shape without sacrificing a little extra room for layers. The beige color looks great, and given that I tend to prefer black jackets, that's saying something. My boyfriend even has commented on how nice it looks, and he's not necessarily one for fashion commentary. With my dividends and the 20% member special, this otherwise a little pricey jacket was completely within my budget.
In sum: if you're even mildly interested in this jacket, GET IT. You won't regret it.

I can't really say anything about performance as the coat dosen't fit. I match the size chart for XL and yet the sholders are too narrow, coat pulls uncomfortably across chest. I am very dissappointed. I would just order a size up but you don't make it. What is available in your so-called "extended sizes" is not only ugly but colorless. The average American Woman (including folks that love the outdoors) is size 14 Your XL claims to be a 16. You need to adjust your size chart to match the actual size of your garments!

There are no "hot" spots on this coat, the velcro and zippers are all nicely placed and do not come in contact with your chin etc. The neck is lined with soft poly. I love that the lining is recycled poly and that it has a slight gather which flatters and increases the windproofness. The coat has a great tailored look perfect for my casual office, but I'll use it for outdoor adventures too. Love the fabric, it's nicely crisp yet quiet.

I love this jacket. My boyfriend gifted this jacket to me in Ruby Wine. The color is excellent and I receive lots of complements whenever I wear it. However, I've had this jacket for only 3 weeks and I just noticed there are some areas where it was not properly waterproofed. I've been in the rain many times and haven't gotten wet but I'm starting to see there are darker wet patches on one side of the shoulder and on the edges of the jacket which tells me that it's not repelling the water. I have not washed this jacket. Nonetheless, I am purchasing one for my sister because she loves the look and fit. We'll just have to waterproof it ourselves.

I can only review this coat based on looks alone since I received it today and it's not raining. First of all, WOW, this coat could not look any more chic! I'm a style conscience 25 yr old, and I can see myself wearing this coat anywhere whether rainy or windy. A dress, jeans, you could wear it with anything. I am 5'2" about 112 lbs. 32 chest, and I ordered an XS, and it's form fitting. I can still layer although it puffs out with a thick hoodie/fleece that I tried (but still worked). Now I ordered this coat in blue and like the other post says, the blue is more radiant in person. It's darker than pictured and very flattering! If you need a raincoat BUY it, you won't be disappointed if you're looking for a fashion forward coat similar to a trench coat. When it rains, I will post how it holds up.

I am 5'8" and the medium fit well; length was mid-thigh. I have worn this jacket several times in moderate rain for a two hour dog walk and it has kept me dry. The hood is a good size, has elastic so it stays on in wind, and the small visor helps keep the rain off my face.
