Comments about REI Signal Peak Jacket - Men's:

Picked this softshell up last week in Mocha. I was specifically in the market for a softshell and tried on every other brand on the racks.

I took this jacket on a rock climbing trip to Enchanted Rock, TX over the past weekend. Temperature was in the mid 50's and winds were gusting at around 25+. My top layer consisted of a cotton t-shirt, a thin REI fleece, and this Signal Peak jacket. Everyone around me was shivering every time the wind blew while I was nice and toasty. The pockets are lined with a warm, soft, breathable material which also kept my hands warm.

Literally the only annoyance with this jacket was the fact that both side pocket zippers had flaps over the section at the top of the zipper to stop the wind from squeezing through that little pucker when a zipper is closed completely, but the rubber reinforced chest pocket doesn't have one of these hoods and puckers just a bit. I have yet to feel the cold from this hole but from a consistency standpoint it doesn't make sense.

The jacket is perfect for an everyday wearable type, and can be compressed small enough to fit into a pocket in a daypack or backpack.

The inside is lined with a nice soft material that is actually bonded to the waterproofing layer which should add to the overall durability and lightweight aspect of this one.

I also use the headphone hole quite often which makes for listening to music while walking in the rain handy.

    Overall a 5/5 definitely a great buy.

Comments about REI Signal Peak Jacket - Men's:

I got this soft shell after looking for an inexpensive light weight jacket that would shed light rain around town and around the camp fire. The fit is snug. I'm usually between a L an XL so I went with the XL. The sleeves are a little long but they have a Velcro cuff for adjustment that keeps them on my wrists. The water resistance seems great, but I haven't tested it any more than a hundred yard dash to the car in a heavy rain. I like the light weight stretchy feel that allows freedom of movement. The pockets are all good and the dark red is a nice color. My only complaint is with the soft-textured inside. It's very grippy which makes it difficult to slide over anything you wear underneath it. This makes donning and shedding the jacket more of a fight than it should be, especially for a light weight spring/fall jacket. For this it losses a star maybe a star and a half if this sort of thing bothers you. If this isn't one of your pet peeves then I highly recommend the jacket.

Comments about REI Signal Peak Jacket - Men's:

It has become my go to jacket for going out on the town, taking a nice day hike or a leisurely bike ride. Because of its mild wind resistance I am found using it most for chilly days when there is a little wind or light snowfall. The 5 pockets within this jacket allow me to carry too many things and not feel crowded or bulky. If it was a little more water proof it would be a 5 star jacket.

I bought the jacket because of the fit. While walking through R.E.I Chicago while others shopped I killed time trying things on of course. The second I put this jacket on I felt like it was not only tailored for me but that I had owned it for years.

Great Jacket! If the fit is right, Buy it!

Comments about REI Signal Peak Jacket - Men's:

This is a great jacket. I purchased it as light -rain gear for my job as a climbing instructor. The sporadic weather of the Virginia mountains can go from the 40s at night to hot and rainy in the day. This jacket packs relatively small, has ample pocket space, and used with some basic under layers can provide a suitable protection against cold blowy weather, even though I have the lightest form of the jacket.I originally planned to use it as light rain gear, but soft shells vary in water resistancy. Bearing that fact in mind I tried to weather proof it some more with soft shell coating, but its seems pretty set on only standing up to light drizzle. After a moderate spritz the water was soaking in pretty quickly. I would advise a hardshell for anything heavier, but otherwise I love this jacket. The form-fitting yet breathable stretch is amazing when you're trying to be mobile in changing temperatures and climates.
