The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Taku Jacket - Men's Tall:
I bought this jacket around Christmas '08 and I love this jacket!! I was in the market for a lightweight, waterproof (well, at least resistant), breathable, rugged jacket that I could ski with throughout the winter, yet small enough that I could pack it up if I didn't need it while climbing 14ers here in Colorado. This jacket protects me from strong wind gusts on mountain peeks and while ripping down the ski slopes, dry when there is a bit of snow or rain on me, and warm enough when it's cold out (paired with a 200 weight North Face fleece). I haven't tried pairing it with a thin down jacket, but I bet it would work well. The hood is also really nice and adjustable, but is not helmet compatible; it doesn't fold up either, which, for me, isn't a big deal. I don't feel like it holds me back or anything.
The pockets are really nice as well, but the inside of them is mesh, so don't put anything that could puncture through it. The side vents are located really close to the side pockets, so be careful not to open the pocket instead of the vent and lose all of your stuff. The shoulders are reinforced, which is nice when you carry your skis over your shoulders. The fabric is strong, and doesn't snag when you are skiing through the trees. Zippers are also taped and do not let in water.
Overall, I'm very happy with this jacket!!! I know it says that it's not really meant for winter skiing, and more towards warmer weather, but it works really well when you wear an insulation layer with it. The hood could be a bit bigger to accommodate a helmet, but again, it's not really meant for skiing. It's lightweight and you can really bring anywhere. If you need to, I'm sure you could use it for summer hiking when it rains, but it may be a bit big and not be 100% waterproof. I'm a rather small guys (5'8", 155lbs.), wearing usually small/medium, and I bougth a large to fit over my TNF 200 weight fleece. But a bit large if you plan to wear bulky layers.

Comments about REI Taku Jacket - Men's Tall:
I am currently in Paktika Province, Afghanistan. The weather changes constantly without a moments notice. I wear this jacket with a long sleeve T-Shirt in the mornings, by 9 or 10 am, I yank a short sleeve T-Shirt out of my backpack, put it on, and stuff my jacket in my pack. When it cools down in the evening, the jacket comes back out. This jacket has spent time in the dirt, thrown in the back of truck, in an extremely dusty environment, cool and cold days. It really breaks the wind. It snowed a few days back, and I haven't had my heavy coat out since I bought this jacket in early March. Sharana, where I'm currently located is at 7418 FT elevation. I use this jacket every day. I love it. Mine is the green one, which may discontinued.

Comments about REI Taku Jacket - Men's Tall:
Nice to find a goretex jacket that fits the big guy, at 6'6" and 250lbs good fitting waterproof jackets are few and far between. No inside pockets, which is odd. And only available in Black, which make you pretty traffic prone in the Pac NW winters.
