Comments about Tool Logic Survival Card with LED Light:
When looking over Doug Ritter's list of essentials for a pocket survival kit, this card has four of them: blade, light, whistle, fire starter.
The blade is surprisingly comfortable to hold despite the look of its handle, and is initially sharp out of the box. However it might not stay sharp for very long because the steel is low quality. This should not be a problem if you use it for emergencies only.
The magnesium strip gives off adequate sparks, and it's always fun to test your fire building skills in this way. Although the magnesium strip is supposed to be replaceable, I have yet to find a source that stocks them. Maybe this is a future item?
The whistle is fairly loud, and the red LED can be annoying to some eyes. But red is supposed to use batteries more efficiently which is probably why they chose it. The battery is also replaceable, though you will need a jeweler's screwdriver to remove the screws.
Having metal tweezers is a plus, and they work as well as SAK tweezers. The plastic toothpick works too, but the tip is soft and bends easily. I can't conceive of it lasting longer than an SAK toothpick under normal use.
Overall I'm satisfied with this package because it's light weight and fits well in my particular wallet. Remember to take it out though when flying or visiting court houses or other places with abnormally high security. I had an older Tool Logic card confiscated at a court house, and the two security guards debated a bit as to whether they were going to arrest me, which they didn't. Depending on where you live, you might not be so lucky.
