      I bought the XXS for my 4-year old and expect to buy the next size and next size through the years. I am impressed by the quality of the coat. It's much better made than I had anticipated and the small touches go a long way, like the size adjusting features on the sleeves and hood, the media port inside, and the flaps covering the ends of the draw-cords for added comfort. I was also surprised by how lightweight the coat is, it definitely lives up to its name. It will be perfect for layering in the colder months. It rains here on any given day though so having a light option for warm, wet days is pretty awesome. And speaking of our gray climate, I prefer highly-visible gear for my kiddo so I wish they had an orange or a yellow option (only blue and green for boys at this time). Other than that I'm beyond pleased with this coat -as is my son!

        We had another brand rain jacket, but it is not as waterproof. My older son wore the REI jacket at Disneyland through a day of rain and stayed dry. My younger son was cold and the sleeves were wet with the other brand.

              Nice basic rain coat, but a little small. I bought a size 14/16 for my eleven-year-old son. Admittedly, he is quite tall for his age but he is very slender. The sleeves were plenty long and the jacket was long enough (a chronic complaint of mine about most modern raincoats! Who wants a wet butt?) but the jacket was oddly tight through the shoulders and I had to send it back. My son has very little bodyfat and no one would describe him as muscular.

              My son took this for a winter camp and loved it on his hikes. It kept him dry, while not weighing him down. Stylish enough to wear to school after the trip.
