      I use this for night riding. Increased visibility nicely. However, in the second season, it became unreliable - turned off by itself, won't turn on, sensitive if the wiring is bent. I would opt for a different type of light.

      Love this light. It is super visable from far away. Brought my to Burning man last year and the batteries lasted the entire week! Very simple to use. Would be 5star if it was rechargable.

        I just received this light as a gift for xmas and love the concept behind it. I get a good stare from everyone, which is good because I know they seem me. The constant on or flashing mode adds a cool effect to the light.

          Well...it's a fantastic idea and I would like to give it 5 stars, but I have already bought two of these...one quit working after a week and the other never worked right out of the box. Problems with my first one included: *very sensitive on/off switch that caused light to turn off on its own mid cylce.*poor wire connection to battery pack causing loss of power to unit within one week of purchase*small connection site from battery pack to main light wire and the two pieces only fit in one way...difficult to do in the dark (easy to ruin the connection prongs as they are a bit flimsy).*it hums when it does work (although I put the battery pack in my pannier bag so I don't hear it when cycling).[...]

                This unit did NOT work right out of the box. I found the build quality to be very cheap, the instructions to be barely adequate. No indications on the battery holder as to polarity of the AA cells (had to look inside at contact configuration), plastic is flimsy and low quality. I don't particularly like battery holders that require removing screws to change batteries (certainly not while on the road at night).[...]

                Service and delivery comments:

                Delivery was prompt. Returned this to local store in San Diego with no hassle.

                  I really, really wish I could recommend this product. Easy to install, brilliant visibility, elicits many nice comments from onlookers.

                  Unfortunately, I bought two, and they both failed, on two separate bikes, in exactly the same way, within 3 months. One minute they're working, the next I went over a modest bump, and they're kaput. Tried changing batteries, but no use, the unit just heats up. Evidently this is a short circuit of some sort, but I took the cover off and looked at the circuit board, no obvious problem.

                  Perhaps they got a few bad parts, and the problem is rare, but I don't know how one could determine this in advance. A shame, because I really loved them while they worked.

                    This is a review update. Bought this in Fall '09 and was really happy with it - right up until that one wet night commute. The controller was in an exposed seat bag, and the light quit working. I dried it out and waited several days. Though the controller had output voltage and gave its distinctive hum, it wouldn't light the strip. I contacted BikeGlow asking for troubleshooting assistance, and they offered a replacement, saying that they had redesigned the connector to be more water resistant. The new connector is beefier, and for insurance, I taped it and mounted the controller well under the saddle and out of the rain. A month later in rainy Puget Sound and it's still working. I had a problem and the vendor made it right, so I'd still recommend this light.
