Comments about BikeGlow Safety Light:
This is a review update. Bought this in Fall '09 and was really happy with it - right up until that one wet night commute. The controller was in an exposed seat bag, and the light quit working. I dried it out and waited several days. Though the controller had output voltage and gave its distinctive hum, it wouldn't light the strip. I contacted BikeGlow asking for troubleshooting assistance, and they offered a replacement, saying that they had redesigned the connector to be more water resistant. The new connector is beefier, and for insurance, I taped it and mounted the controller well under the saddle and out of the rain. A month later in rainy Puget Sound and it's still working. I had a problem and the vendor made it right, so I'd still recommend this light.

This light is a godsend for bicyclists. This will be my third Bikeglow, I have them on all my bikes now. I am seen now on every ride, I feel safe, cars move for me, people shout "great bike". I've never been so thrilled with a product.

Comments about BikeGlow Safety Light:
Product is great looking AND effective in lighting up the frame from the side. Green and yellow are much brighter to the human eye than the blue. It's important to do a good wrap job if you are putting it on the frame to make it look good.
I thought I was going to be laughed at by my commuting friends, as a potential contestant to the Disneyland parade. Instead, I received universal applause from all - including the local bike store guys. Don't hesitate to buy if you want to improve your visibility from the side.
On the negative, the driver makes an annoying hum (not a big deal unless you mounted on your helmet). Also, its not really water resistant. Wrap it in the tape provided or put it in a small saddle bag for protection.

Great product, easy to install. One comment. I put the controller in my saddle wedge. When the controller face (with the control button) was horizontal, I had problems with the light switching modes or turning off as I hit bumps on my commute. I reoriented the controller with the control face vertical, and no more problem. The inertial forces of the bumps were activating the control button. It's still five stars, even with this minor flaw.

Fun addition to my pedicab lighting. I like how easy it is to change the appearance of the lights by rewrapping. Not a replacement for a good headlight and taillight, but adds visibility, especially from the side.

This is a great idea. Especially for a city dweller like myself. I am always concerned about safety while riding in the city at night. Now I know that cars will be able to see me from the side without issue. Thanks for the peace of mind!

Comments about BikeGlow Safety Light:
I really, really wish I could recommend this product. Easy to install, brilliant visibility, elicits many nice comments from onlookers.
Unfortunately, I bought two, and they both failed, on two separate bikes, in exactly the same way, within 3 months. One minute they're working, the next I went over a modest bump, and they're kaput. Tried changing batteries, but no use, the unit just heats up. Evidently this is a short circuit of some sort, but I took the cover off and looked at the circuit board, no obvious problem.
Perhaps they got a few bad parts, and the problem is rare, but I don't know how one could determine this in advance. A shame, because I really loved them while they worked.

Comments about BikeGlow Safety Light:
I have several of these in different colors, mounted on different bikes in my family.
They are fun, innovative, and entertaining. I would not classify them as serious safety equipment, but they do aid in visibility, especially from the side (and possibly the rear, if they are mounted toward the back of the bike).
My daughter has a purple strand mounted on a milk crate on her bike rack. They are really fun and because they are so different than what car drivers expect to see on the road, pretty visible as a result.
My son has gone through two sets of yellow lights. These are more visible than the purple color. The first set was destroyed in a fall where his zipper pull somehow got caught in the wrapped light. The second set of lights got pinched on a bike rack and no will no longer work.
The aqua color seems to be the most visible at night, so if you are aiming for safety, this would be the color I would recommend.
I think of these more for fun rather than safety, but I like them. They are light weight, can be wrapped just about anywhere on your main frame, and they tend to make car drivers smile rather than shout obscenities.

Comments about BikeGlow Safety Light:
This unit did NOT work right out of the box. I found the build quality to be very cheap, the instructions to be barely adequate. No indications on the battery holder as to polarity of the AA cells (had to look inside at contact configuration), plastic is flimsy and low quality. I don't particularly like battery holders that require removing screws to change batteries (certainly not while on the road at night).[...]
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was prompt. Returned this to local store in San Diego with no hassle.
