Comments about Princeton Tec Fuel 4 LED Headlamp:
Bought this light to take on the Inca Trail in Peru and when I pulled it out of the suitcase the night before heading out, the hinge on the battery cover was broken. I never even got to use it. Without the battery cover the light won't work. I understand wanting to keep the weight down but making such a flimsy component in such a critical spot seems like a poor design.

Comments about Princeton Tec Fuel 4 LED Headlamp:
Not great design since the battery hinge broke in less than a year. Sent back to the manufacturer and looks like they will fix it for free ($2 postage + the hassle). Bright light but it really does not vary much for each of the 3 steady settings. Nice to have a dimmer light setting sometimes. Long battery life but not sure how waterproof it is.

Comments about Princeton Tec Fuel 4 LED Headlamp:
I've had this for a year and used ocassionally. The contruction seemed solid, however the clasp for the battery broke.
There was not a significant diffence in brightness between the 3 brightness settings...they were all 3 very bright. This is annoying when you really wanted dim light.

Comments about Princeton Tec Fuel 4 LED Headlamp:
This has been a great light! I was a little bit worried about all of the poor feedback that I was reading on this headlamp. But when I purchased it, it was on sale, and I couldn't pass up the price. The main complaint that I read was about how weak the battery cover was on this light... and honestly, I don't see it. Especially when I compared this headlamp to other headlamps of the same style (battery and light in the same compartment).
As far as the lighting is concerned, this one clearly outshone all of my friends and fellow hikers on the recent nighthike that we took. It was a little bit too bright against the snow on the trail, so I backed it off to a lower level and it was still brighter than their lamps on high.
The battery life couldn't be better either... I was a little bit worried about the cold weather on a trip that I went on (highs near 20 and lows near 0) but over the weekend, the lamp showed no noticable dimming.
All in all, this is a great light, easily able to be turned on and adjusted - with gloves even!
Would I recommend it to a friend? I already have! and looking at getting another one just like it for my wife.

Product works great. Only wish is an even a dimmer light setting. Product is very bright in the darkness of night around camp.

Comments about Princeton Tec Fuel 4 LED Headlamp:
I feel like I have to stick up for this headlamp. Clearly, this is one of the cheaper headlamps, but for the price, I was very impressed with the quality of the beam, its simplicity, and durability. The battery still has not run out on me, and I've used it quite a bit. If you're looking for something highly functional and affordable, go with this one!

Comments about Princeton Tec Fuel 4 LED Headlamp:
I originally bought the Fuel for an emergency preparedness kit. I kept it in the kit with the batteries removed, and would occasionally test it.
I then had several situations where I needed a light, but didn't want to carry a flashlight (taking out trash cans at night, working under kitchen sink, hooking up wires behind a cabinet, climbing into the attic), so now I keep it in a drawer in the kitchen and use it constantly for household tasks where I would normally use a flashlight.
It's simple, lightweight, and works great.
Although I haven't had to change the batteries yet, I've opened the battery door dozens of times, and I haven't had any problems with it. I gently pop it off using the tool on the strap, and it seems fine. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I am not seeing the problem at all with mine.
I'm going to be ordering a second one since I use this one so much.

Comments about Princeton Tec Fuel 4 LED Headlamp:
My usage to date has been for running. I've taken it out many times, and have yet to replace the batteries. It's lightweight, the design is good, and the beam is (was) bright. I like the way that when you rotate to your desired setting (brightness/strobe), you don't have to rotate through the remaining settings to turn it off. I think most headlamps are now this way, but my previous one was not.
On the downside, I dropped it from ~4-5' and the end-cap cracked. I contacted Princeton, and they kindly and quickly replaced it. I later noticed that one of the end-bulbs is out, which I assume happened when I dropped it. It doesn't appear that the bulb is replaceable. Still does fine for running, but not so sure for heavy or rough use.

Comments about Princeton Tec Fuel 4 LED Headlamp:
I used this lamp several times now and it works great. The battery door can be a pain but if you use the plastic adjuster on the head strap you can get it open with ease. I do wish it had a red LED for those super low light occasions though.
