Comments about SRAM X.9 Rear Derailleur:
Have two X9s on mountain bikes-- shift great when set up correct (but thats the case for all derailleurs) , have taken a few beatings in crashes and running into PNW roots and rocks, and still going strong. Does require you to run Sram shifters, but since I've been running them since the late 90s, thats not a problem. I haven't run shimano RDs since, and I don't feel like I'm missing a thing. If you are looking for a solid rear derailleur, X9 is a great option!
