Comments about Petzl Tikkina 2 LED Headlamp:

Purchased this to use around camp once I finished backpacking into my destination. Arrived at camp too early and was bored so I decided to hike for another 3 hours, 2 of those hours under the guide of my Tikkina headlamp.
This headlamp is a bit dim to hike by at night, luckily my trail was well laid out and marked, otherwise I would have been in a bad spot. Beam is not wide and only reaches maybe 20 feet out.
However, this headlamp isn't made for that. It is an excellent in-camp headlamp to set up your tent, cook dinner, play some cards, read a book, etc. It is nice and light, packs small, durable enough. Use it for what it is intended for and you will be happy.

Comments about Petzl Tikkina 2 LED Headlamp:

Love the large, waterproof on-off switch. Light weight and long battery life. Alas, just too dim for anything beyond in camp use. Petzl really needs to upgrade one of the LED's in this light to a higher lumen output LED for greater versatility.

Comments about Petzl Tikkina 2 LED Headlamp:

I've been disappointed with this lamp---definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is going out on a trail.

I bought it just for use around the house and to walk the dog at night. It's not even sufficient for walking the dog, so I can't imagine relying on it in an outdoors situation.

The other downside is that it's really easy to accidentally open up the battery housing and thus spilling three batteries into the trail or road.

Comments about Petzl Tikkina 2 LED Headlamp:

I purchased this because of the nighttime running group that I am a part of. It works great, came with 3 AAA batteries and was easy to throw together in a matter of seconds. It held up great through my 10.5 mile run :)

Had a Black Diamond Gizmo before this, total rubbish. This lamp is much much better, great value for money, engineered well, light weight and even looks a little better than a Gizmo in my opinion.. I'm very happy with it. Black Diamond, really come on step it up, these guys are killing you.

I ordered this in the spring for my 300 mile section hike on the AT, only used it for night hikes 2 times on level easy terrain, to dim for anything more. great around camp and thats pretty much it. the headband stretched so much that it wont even fit very well on my head.

Comments about Petzl Tikkina 2 LED Headlamp:

I used (or attempted to use) this headlamp for several months before I gave up on it and bought a better option. From the very first time I tried to use it, the "on" button often wouldn't work, and I'd have to click it for a minute or more before it would finally cooperate.

The two light (beam) settings are nice, but even the brightest is pretty dim--it provides enough light to set up a tent or play a game of cards, but good luck hiking in the dark with it--and doesn't stay bright for anywhere near as long as advertised. The problem is exacerbated by the lamp's fondness for turning on in my backpack (why won't it cooperate when I try to push the button?).

My advice: spend an extra $10 or $20 on a more reliable headlamp. My boyfriend has the Petzl Tikka Plus 2, which works fine, and I replaced this lamp with a Black Diamond Spot that I'm thrilled with.
