Comments about Volkl Wide Ski Straps - Package of 2:
Yeah, I'm not sure what the chief complaint was when these got 1-star. They do exactly what they're supposed to do. I have a pair of Rossi Experience 88's, which is only a mid-fat, and they work perfectly. I think the complaint was that the foam (which is placed in between the two skis wasn't the EXACT length to his ski's width. The extra foam padding (which is about an 1/8"-thick) is folded around the outide of the ski as you strap the velco down. It's supposed to do that, and it didn't make any difference in security for me. I didn't fold the padding in on itself. That way there's enough padding to get between even the widest skis. (hence the "wide ski straps") Again, my skis aren't deep powder skis, and I can still secure these down pretty tight with the Volkl straps.Anyway, they're [$]. If you have a wider ski, grab these. They work. Don't ask me why, but I took pictures on how *I* use them to avoid any confusion.

Comments about Volkl Wide Ski Straps - Package of 2:
Do not read the review that says these suck! They do the job they were designed for perfectly. They were made to hold the Kuro and Chop Sticks, and they fit Megawatts very well I might add. They are, after all, called wide ski straps.

Comments about Volkl Wide Ski Straps - Package of 2:
Volkl makes some truly outstanding gear, but this product is poorly designed. I bought these to serve as cinch straps to keep shaped skis from coming loose in transport. The item is like an oversized Velcro strap with two pieces of cushioning foam in the middle. This will pad the ski edges at the contact points and may prevent shearing. However, the straps are too wide and with the thick foam they can NOT be cinched down to keep the skis tightly together without folding/deforming the foam. With the straps applied, you get to choose whether to have loose skis (the reason you buy straps in the first place) or to fold over the thick foam and get some tension in place (looks very sloppy).
My skis are pretty wide and these straps are both useless and cumbersome. I was hoping to find something (1) without metal hooks and (2) more advanced than a $1 Velcro cinch strap, but this Volkl product is not it.
