Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
This was my third garmin HR strap. First two failed after just short of a year apiece. Now, the new one, didn't work at all. Picks up my heart rate only briefly before dropping out. I guess maybe I don't have a heart? Anyway, I would not recommend buying one.

Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
I first used this heart rate monitor strap with my Garmin 610. It lasted approximately 4 months before giving me incorrect results. As my workouts went longer the heart rate data went lower and lower until it failed to register. I cleaned it regularly as directed and used electrode gel but still no success. Garmin replaced the monitor but the second unit did the same thing after 3 months.

Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
Have had the heart rate strap for 3 months and it is already useless. Heart rate spikes all over the place even when running indoors in a sportbra on the treadmill. Poor quality strap for a high quality watch. Disappointing.

Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
This starts slowly. You have to perspire for it to work reliably. The solution is to pair the Garmin Sensor with a Polar Wear link Belt,

Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
This HR monitor strap literally chews me up, it chafes so bad (liberal applications of Glide does help some), even after a short work out. Now, after using this HR monitor strap for less than a year, it has gone belly up on me.

Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
Most comfortable HR strap I've ever owned. Hardly even know I'm wearing it on my regular 5+ hr rides. For some of the commenters that have said they are seeing erratic readings, I would suggest that you use some electrode gel on the pads. The original Garmin strap has groves which help to catch sweat and keep the monior working but are also uncomfortable on long rides. This monitor just requires a little electrode gel on the pads and it works reliably all day long.

Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
I've had this for about 2 weeks and have had several runs with it. I'm used to using Polar HR straps and I always wet the electrods of the straps with water when I put it on. However, without fail (so far anyway) it gives overly high readings near the beginning of my run sessions, like into the 200's or high 100's, and drifts down towards truer numbers after a while, probably when I begin to sweat a little. I've never had such issue with the Polar straps, which unfortunately cannot be used with Garmin watches. I did find that I can get it to work correctly right from the beginning if I wet the entire strap by holding it under the faucet, but I gets uncomfortable to put on a soaking wet strap in cool weather.

Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
This strap does not provide accurate heart rate data. My average heart rate is around 165 beats per minute. Using this strap, I started getting readings of 245 beats per minute, so I did some research online and found that my experience was not uncommon. There are rationales for the failure (static interference) and solutions that apparently work *sometimes* (wet your shirt, coat the contact surfaces with various materials), but I will be returning this and using the strap that came with the Forerunner.
I recommend not using this product.

Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
I bought this as a replacement for an older style strap. It worked fine for a couple of months but when winter came it became very inaccurate. At first I thought the high heart rate readings (200 - 220 bpm) were due to something being wrong with me - I was coming back after an injury and a couple of colds. I even went to my doctor and a cardiologist because why would I think it was the equipment? After seeing an article where the author stated that high readings could be the result of faulty equipment I went back and tried running with the old strap -- problem solved.
While I'm the HR strap was the source of the abnormal readings there are conditions where you can have a heart rate that high and going to the doctor was a good decision just to rule out anything serious.

Comments about Garmin Premium Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap:
I've had two of these after losing the strap that shipped with the FR60. My first one provided reliable readings for five months, then went haywire and stopped working altogether after six months. I didn't rinse it out as they recommended, so I decided it was my bad. The second one has given highly inconsistent readings from the start. Both the first and the second were horrible for rock climbing - the movement dragged the sensors and caused wildly unreliable readings. The second one has been bad even for activities like running and elliptical workouts that don't cause as much movement - huge spikes in heart rate for the first 30 minutes of a workout, then it seems to settle down. It's totally thrown off my training records.
If Garmin sold the standard strap, I'd buy it as a replacement, even with the increased weight.
