Comments about Nokian Hakkapeliitta W240 Studded Tire - 26 x 1.95:
I run the hakka 240 front, and mount & ground in back, great combo. Keeps the rotational weight down a bit and still get good traction, and I appreciate the extra studs in front for control and breaking. The only time I notice the limitations of the m&g is out of the saddle hard cranking. As the bike hits top center when rocking side-to-side, there's a touch of slip as that tire doesn't have any center spikes... Not enough to keep me from jumping up and cranking. I initially got these for commuting Northern Michigan winters but found that it really extended cycling to the whole year. I put around 500mi on them last winter w/ no signs of wear. The beauty of the carbide (most tires are steel studded) is their durability, so as things melt and refreeze, you can have the security of studs w/o feeling wasteful wearing out your tires. No studs have popped out. These Tires do make pavement riding a little less secure as the have a little less grab on hard surfaces like concrete and tarmac when cornering and breaking. Also, I inspected each stud before using the tires and, per the instructions, took an easy break-in ride to work all the studs into place. These are a great investment, I highly recommend these tires!

Comments about Nokian Hakkapeliitta W240 Studded Tire - 26 x 1.95:
Works really well on ice and snow. Commute times drop due to extra rolling resistance and extra caution needed in all conditions with these tires. I have mine on a mountain bike and I'm running around 55psi (I'm around 175lbs and carry about 10lbs of gear and water. I typically ride on pavement and these tires sound like I'm on gravel. I find I can't "angle up" sloped curbs with these as the studs slip a bit in dry pavement. Also high speed stability is compromised on dry pavement. So go slower and be cautious. I find I get the same traction on dry pavement as on ice but that is a huge improvement from NO traction which is what you get without studs. Also traction is way up on wet leaves.

Comments about Nokian Hakkapeliitta W240 Studded Tire - 26 x 1.95:
Received these just in time for the ice/snow storm in central Indiana. These have provided amazing traction on shear ice roads and trails. Can even go up/down hills of ice without slipping. These tires really grip and provide traction where it would be dangerous even to walk. Speed is obviously less than on dry pavement or trails but these will be my tire of choice for the winter season from now on.

Comments about Nokian Hakkapeliitta W240 Studded Tire - 26 x 1.95:
Before I had these tires installed, I was slipping and sliding. These make an amazing difference. I am able to go over ice without any problem of slipping and they do fine on pavement. I had the local bike shop install these and they did mention that they were difficult to install. The side walls are thick.
