Comments about Black Diamond Cyborg Pro Step-In Crampons with ABS Plates:
I had a previous version of the Cyborgs, and upgraded to the new ones for two reasons: new Sportiva boots and a tremendous sale. I used the crampons in the their dual point setup on two days of late season ice in Hyalite Canyon, and they worked well. However, I bought the kit that allows for a monopoint conversion. Let's just say it's not easy and requires substantial surgery on the anti-bot plate, which is NOT set up for monopoint. Still, nothing a box cutter couldn't solve, and the spacing kit for the mono worked well. Now I'm good to go for mixed routes as well as steep and overhanging ice. Good gear from BD, as usual

Comments about Black Diamond Cyborg Pro Step-In Crampons with ABS Plates:
Extremely easy to adjust and very solid once on. Micro adjust of the heal lever makes a tight fight possible on every boot I own. This is definitely a specialist tool, and I am interested to see how long the plastic components last (ABS and micro adjust heal lever). That said, these crampons are rigid, wicked sharp tools that will make any pillar of vertical ice into a vibrating string of support as you send a ridiculous overhanging line. Easy to adjust to mono, though that requires the use of a similarly sharp file. Not a crampon for mountaineering or non-technical use - these are specialized tools for climbing serious ice.

Comments about Black Diamond Cyborg Pro Step-In Crampons with ABS Plates:
Initially, I bought these b/c I wanted a step-in crampon w/ vertical frontpoints for icy sections of hiking in the back country. Later, I picked up ice climbing, switched them to the single front point setup and haven't looked back. The slight offset (inside) feels better than other crampons w/ a single front point as it's more in line with the strongest part of your foot (between your big and middle toes). Short of a dedicated ice climbing boot, this works really well.

Comments about Black Diamond Cyborg Pro Step-In Crampons with ABS Plates:
Great product and very easy to use. Simple step in and adjusts easily even with heavy gloves on. Heavy duty material and well designed. The arrangement of the teeth alleviates any build up of snow and ice with each step allowing a feeling of safety and high grip in every condition. Using low kick-in I still get high grip and feel confident putting full weight on only two or three teeth set. I bought these rather late in the season and haven't used them quite enough yet to really test their wear but they seem to be holding up after a few climbs. My only con is the price, I'd recommend buying slightly less expensive crampons for the "dabblers" in the sport, but I've always said you can never be too pricey when it comes to safety while your half way up a 2000 foot ice wall. These are my 10th pair of crampons and the technology continues to improve each year. I'd buy these again.
