Great FM reception

    Comments about Life Gear Homeland Security Alert Radio and Flashlight:

    This pulls in FM stations better than any of the Eton or Grundig models I've tried and is smaller and lighter than most. It seems to have better sensitivity and specificity than my old GE Super Radio.
    It has decent sound quality and battery life.
    The controls are not as intuitive as they could be. You may actually be reading the instruction book and still have difficulty remembering how to turn the alarm off.
    The light works well and automatically times off.
    The AM reception is mediocre and the weather band reception is very good.
    There is no dynamo or solar charger.
    The case seems sturdy.
    The clock functions, functional LED light, and reasonable size and weight make this a winner for me for travel and for long hikes when I want access to news and weather.
