Comments about WrightSock Double-Layer Xtra Hiking Socks - '08 Closeout:
WrightSocks are my favorite brand of socks. I have the walking and running versions of the double-layer design and LOVE them. I wanted to love these too, but they can be frustrating to put on. The inner layer can stay bunched up unless I treat them more like nylons (roll them on evenly), and the bunching is uncomfortable. I don't ever have this problem with any of their other double layer socks... The great thing about these is that even with two layers they dry quickly. They do prevent blisters and keep my feet warm.

While preparing for a month long 700 mile hike I tried many socks. Some caused blisters, some were too thick or too thin. These have been the best yet. The inner sock hugs my foot nicely as the outer sock moves with the boot reducing friction.

Comments about WrightSock Double-Layer Xtra Hiking Socks - '08 Closeout:
The two layers are not connected and so rub together in a way that feels weird and uncomfortable and makes the sock bunch in a funny way. The material is not very soft and the socks are kind of rigid and not stretchy. I bought these because they were on sale, but I'll stick to wigwams and thorlos from now on.

I love these socks and have bought 4 of them. NO more painful blisters since I wore them. It is amazing. Yes they wear out a bit faster than what I expected, but I am happy to spend money and have no blisters ater 25 miles of hiking in one day. I am buying a couple of more pairs. I have tried other brands, but none as comfortable and low cost as these.

Comments about WrightSock Double-Layer Xtra Hiking Socks - '08 Closeout:
I bought a pair of these a few months ago because of the price. They are double layered, which is fine except that after you have washed them once, the layers don't fit together quite right so you have to fiddle with them to get the bunches out. That wouldn't be so bad but after wearing these about 10 times the outer later is totally gone from the heel and ball of the foot - WORN OUT!

Breaking in a brand new pair of Red Wings...having good socks is paramount. I was reluctant to go with these unsure of how they were made but pleasantly surprised. I ordered a few more pairs the other day!

Comments about WrightSock Double-Layer Xtra Hiking Socks - '08 Closeout:
In more than 30 years of hiking, scrambling, and running, with "tender" feet, I have never had a blister with the double-layer technology that Wrightsocks have perfected. Over this time, single thick socks and separate "liner" socks of various configurations have occasionally failed. I'm mystified why these "Blister Resisters" are not widely accepted as THE necessary basics for any "repetitive foot-based" activity. P.S. to REI: More crew heights and colors would help!
