Comments about Talus ColdAvenger Expedition Balaclava:

In extreme cold environments where the wind chill is ripping in at anywhere below zero is the time I reach for mine and toss it in my ski bag. It is so nice to not have ANY skin stinging in these conditions. Paradoxically, this is also one of the best times to be a skier/boarder. The only thing I can fault is this devise does cake the snow around you face, head and neck when you accidentally perform a face plant. Chalk that up to operator error. A normal guy 6 foot and over well use the XL. Like I said, it sure beats that soggy options available to us by a long shot. And not for everyday skiing/boarding but nice when it snows.

Comments about Talus ColdAvenger Expedition Balaclava:

I bought this hoping that this would solve my cycling needs. However after a half dozen of attempts it just will not work because it the Talus product automatically puts a strain on your neck: due to how thick this balaclava is made. It is just not made for a cycling posture :( *(After 4 miles I was ready to take this product off and by 10 just forgot it) Out of the 6 time I have used it I have ALWAYS had condensation build up in the nose piece and freeze up on either side. I also have had numerous number of ice cycles form at the bottom. Another thing that I have found out, from all of the head movement the side pieces of the Balaclava are TOO SHORT causing BARE SKIN to show equaling a NO GO while being outside in NEGATIVE temps!!! HERE IS THE THING THAT I AM TORN ABOUT; WEATHER THE BALACLAVA SHOULD BE A 2 PIECE OR ONE PIECE TO KEEP YOU A WARMER. I like the 2 piece while on the bicycle because this allows me to use my Camelbak with my helmet with no problem!!! Other than the few things that I have mentioned the Talus Balaclava has kept me mighty warm on rides dipping down to -15 for 2hrs. Advice.....think before buying, cover all areas that you think could go wrong!

Comments about Talus ColdAvenger Expedition Balaclava:

As much as I complain about this balaclava, who can replace it with a better one? I sure have not found another one like it. After 3200 miles on the bicycle here is my take on the Talus Cold. The sizing is off: when you have your helmet and ski goggles on your temple area is showing. Yet the balaclava is not snug, matter of fact its fairly relaxed fit: after it was worn in. The ventilation piece does work well, you do breath in warm air. Minus the fact that moisture just keeps on building up and I always have an icicle hanging out the bottom if temperatures are at freezing. I have used this product all the way up to -27 and it worked pretty good, just wished the fabric was windproof because after 3 hours I was getting a little cold in the face region. If you do not mind looking like a ninja this product is for you.

Comments about Talus ColdAvenger Expedition Balaclava:

I purchased this product for the extreme winter conditions I will be facing while photographing in the Sawtooths. It is very warm and I don't have to worry about my goggles foging up on me because of the specially designed respiratory system built into the mask. The only negative I have about the balaclava itself, is that it fits a little big. If you have a small head, forget it it. I didn't give it 5 stars because of it's fit.
